Quick Video done to compare the Dell S2721DGFA and MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD Side by Side ...

I ended up buying both and I stuck with the MSI as the blacks and media just seems to be a lot nicer to view. I think the Dell needs calibrating both were from standard settings apart from changing to 165Htz. Obviously there is a price difference of around £100 currently.

... a few more videos to come including Overwatch 2, Horizon Dawn, Spiderman and Forza Horizon videos using similar set up

    Hope it helps someone

It's because this Dell uses same LG panel from LG GP83,both have very poor contrast, basically blacks look grey typical of many cheap/mid range IPS panels.it's a decent monitor for price but black levels and contrast are very poor.the MSI is far better and well worth the extra. (edited)

One more thing to note when my Dell S2721DGFA arrived the packaging was really battered. The box was split in places and looked dirty. I did write to Dell and they gave me 10% off to keep the item (which was very nice). I bought the MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD from Amazon with discounts and the box was pristine no issues what so ever.

Having had both of them side by side for a few days I must say my heart went with the MSI. Saying that .. before I had the MSI the Dell did look really nice too! But when I got the MSI I could see the difference especially in Dark Scenes the colours lift more on the MSI (IMO) and the UI for tweaking the monitor is a lot better compared to the one Dell gives you. You can really fine tune the MSI. There's 2 lots of software for the MSI monitor called 'GamingIntelligence' and 'MSI Centre' both of which offer different controls. The Dell AFAIK just has Dell Display Manager which does offer some things too but the MSI software is very nice to use.

One thing the Dell has is a very good stand! It is a lot nicer to use and the tilting functions are a lot nicer. The MSI lacks the same movement as the Dell but IMO the image quality is slightly better on the MSI. One thing to note though 144hz is not showing available using a Display Port cable on the MSI! Been reading up on this but seems to be a known issue on some resolutions.

Overall both monitors look and feel premium and either/or will not disappoint. At this price point the Dell is a very good choice

Purchased, item was delivered the next day, also arrived with a damaged box. Dell also provided a 10% discount without any challenges. The monitor including accessories were new, no signs of use or damage. Legally, item packaging is part of the product itself.

I never even realised I had 2 extra usb ports on the underside of this monitor. Thanks for posting the connectors image, I would have been ignorant to them otherwise. Great monitor btw.

Here's a review from Toms Hardware which gives some recommended settings (the extra 'A' at the end is updated firmware, apparently):
