Great link here shows meaco dehumidifiers are top notch in terms of power consumption per liter of water extracted. (use Google translate)

    bedre-inneklima.no/hvi…om/

Comparing the 20l to the 12l model, the 20l model is 14% and 22% more efficient at 10 degrees and 20 degrees respectively.

This is partially compensated for by the lower price of the 12l model but I'd take the 20l of both were available. Also with its larger water tank. (edited)

If I get another dehumidifier i'll add the 5 year extended warranty for £60. Had two now that died just after the 2 years warranty was up. Seen loads on ebay with the same issue (fan works but doesn't collect water) sold for spares/repair.

Claim for it under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 9 (goods to be of satisfactory quality), subsection 3c (durability) when comparing to subsection 2c (you spent £200+ when there were certainly other models with the same warranty available at sub-100, so you expect this to last longer than 2 years)

Bought this from Argos a few months ago.
obviously not as quick as the tumble dryer but at 5p an hour does a very good job a lot cheaper.
only use the tumble dryer now for towels.

If you have it on during the night it's quite annoying. Whatever setting you have it on the fan speed changes and makes a noise when doing so. Like a single clicking noise.

Generally curious - never used one myself, doesn't heating usually replace the need for these or is this for really damp regions? In Australia we never had them because "damp" meant the tip of your roof being the only visible part of the house above the waterline.

UK housing stock especially in the North is described as the worst in western Europe. A lot of slate roof estates are now a century old and originally built for two families, one upstairs and one downstairs each having a coal fire for heating and hot water. Windows were a single pain of glass and terribly drafty meaning the houses were all cold and damp......oh and don't forget the outside loo! They all should have been condemned at the end of WWW2.

hello folks, how does this compare with the Blyss WDH-316DB 16LTR DEHUMIDIFIER from screwfix?

in terms of electricity consumption and performance to dehumidify the air (keeping windows mositure free!)
    AC-ZEP-GEN-DC's avatar
    AC-ZEP-GEN-DC
I have been comparing the same models and have gone for the Meaco. It will be a bit cheaper to run, the laundry mode gets good feedback and you get a 5 yr warranty. The Blyss still gets great reviews, has a 3 year warranty and is £36 cheaper.

Suspect either will sort the issue.

Is the 12ltr OK for a 3 bedroom house?
    dynamac's avatar

Tbh I would get as big as your can afford. The price difference isn't huge. The size and power usage might be an issue say for a 20L. But with my 12L I find I'm only extracting about 3L of actual water a day constantly running, so I'm not sure where '12L' comes from. I guess it depends how damp your space is. I use mine to dry laundry so the humidity in that space goes from 50-70%.

Trying to find one of these at the mo is like trying to find rocking horse s***. Set up a back in stock notification for this at argos, didn't get an email not trusting deliveries either after some bad recent experiences. Anyone recommend an alternative dehumidifier?

Took a plunge and ordered one from appliances direct. Happy to say it got delivered next day and the difference to my flat is unbelievable. Got the radiator on minimum and the gaff's roasting whereas before it was on full blast and I had to sit on top of it to feel anything. Best money I've spent this year!

I have a few faint mould spots in the bedroom behind the bed. Humidity seems to get up to mid 60s during the night and settles at mid 50s during the day. The rest of the house seems ok and averages about 45%. There is condensation on my bedroom windows every morning. I am presuming that this 12 litre machine will sort the problem in my bedroom. Judging from the figures, would it necessarily need to run during the night?... Cheers.

Just thought I'd post this. The general humidity has been brought down using this. It hasn't had to run too often as I've been monitoring it's usage with a smart plug. But very pleased as I think the overall humidity cause my doors to swell and not shut properly in the upstairs room. This week they have gradually gone back to their normal self.

It does, like I've mention earlier had it going 24/7 for whole week. Humidity and moisture gone down alot! that made house 'feel' much warmer . Got heating set to 19 degrees and it's switching itself most of the time only at night/late evening 😁👌

Been looking for this one for some weeks myself, but I don't feel its much of a deal. Back in stock direct from Maeco as well in a day or two as far as I know, but as well for RRP unless some promo is due soon. If the deal is that there is stock Maeco is not doing the best of jobs at keeping things in stock... which I feel might be the case, cause I could barely find another of their products in stock half a year or so back. I'd be happy if some 10-20% discount option would be available with one of their resellers or direct. (edited)
