out of interest, what do people here actually use these for? i don't have any smart plugs, but only things i can think of that they might be useful for is maybe the microwave, and the TV (turning them off instead of leaving them on standby).

My Raspberrypis are plugged into Kasas. I can reboot them without going down to the server room. Also perfect for security lighting. You can set them to turn on at a time plus/minus sunset so you don't have to adjust the time between winter & summer.

Just an FYI: Kasa and Tapo smart plugs can’t be controlled from the same app, despite both being made by TP-Link.

And sounds like they're phasing Kasa out in favour of Tapo

I have 3 Kasa smart plugs and have been waiting for more to come in stock. They are best during Xmas when you can't get enough of them! (edited)

I've had trouble with some of my tapo plugs failing after a while, it always seems to be in the same plug socket too, even though it's a twin socket, had two fail in the left side, losing all remote connectivity and eventually not connecting at all. I wonder if these would be better or i have a much deeper problem...

Tapo is the budget version - there have been comments over the years about them being less reliable.

Are there any Smart Plugs with temperature sensors?
    TeslaSat's avatar
Sonoff do a number of smart sensors, they might do a temperature one that you can then pair with a smart plug in as routine.

Me too sadly, both Kasa and Tapo.

Out of 9 plugs in totally. 1 is dead, and 3 often stick on.
