sorted byWhen I trialed using a spare phone the hot-spot would keep dropping out if nothing connected to it after a while. The battery wasn't as good, and I was constantly worried about breaking the phone in my bag.
These are cheap fire and forget devices.
Set it to charge the unit for 30mins every 2 hours (or whatever becomes optimal).
Seeing as it's running off a battery you could even use a WiFi switch to charge it and control it remotely, but if it drops out you lose that ability to communicate with the switch.
Id there a companion app with the router that you could use IFTTT or similar to get a WiFi plug to recognise the battery level dropping to say 20% and getting the WiFi plug to charge until it reaches 80%?
Just chucking a few ideas out there.
Thinking it would be a good addition for a trip to South America if it actually would work.
So it saves your battery on your phone
