Will this work as a boot drive with Dell XPS9570 ?

I bought a WD Black SN770 and it doesn’t work

Checked the specs for that model and the M.2 slot does support NVMe drives so no idea why the SN770 would not work.
Perhaps you just got a duff one?

In any case, go for the Kioxia in this deal instead of the Crucial, it's a much better drive (better endurance TLC NAND and has DRAM cache, this Crucial has neither), and it's a little cheaper -

I have a Firecuda 510 gen 3 (512gb) and need more storage, not sure whether to get this, each day ssd's seen to be getting cheaper

It isn't the fastest drive in the world but £50 for a solid 1tb drive from a well known/reliable brand is a good deal. Doubt you'll save more than a tenner if you wait 6 months.

I would highly recommend you spent a tiny extra for the WD SN570 1TB, very similar read/write speeds but is a TLC rather than a QLC. Meaning it’s has a higher life expectancy and is overall more stable and fast.

These Crucial QLC drives always get a lot of heat, even when there are great TLC drives for less money.

There's a Kioxia 1TB TLC drive for less, also has DRAM cache making it a better performer, but people seem to love these Crucial QLC drives for some reason, lol! (edited)

Low endurance QLC junk, get the Kioxia 1TB, which is TLC Flash, here instead -

TBW 220TB is quite low than others offering eg KIOXIA Exceria G2 offering 400TB... (edited)
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
    Yep, QLC NAND.
Pointless buying this when the Kioxia 1TB is TLC and has DRAM cache for less money.

Does this work in a steam deck?
    cactusjack's avatar
No, this is too big. You need a 2230 NVME SSD for the Steam Deck.
