FREE Wifi in Hamburg! If you don't have roaming you can get FREE wifi from the docks in Hamburg, you will need to go to the Starboard side of the ship, best place is the Upper or Lower level of the Tropical pool area by the huge windows, loads of seats there, log out of the MSC wifi if you are on it and look for 'MobyKlick' it's a FREE wifi service and pretty good, may help someone on a budget.

    How much is MSC wifi?

There is no doubt some new cruisers will occasionally not know which end of the ship is which when on board, TIP: if the numbers are rising on cabin doors you are going to the STERN (rear) and then obviously if getting lower you are heading to the BOW (front) (edited)

STILL availability on the 3rd if this is too expensive for people, £366.80 or with full
    premium drinks package £570.80

if you have a family of 4 the beds for the kids come out of the ceiling but in a balcony cabin the sofa converts into a bed happy days more space inside are fine if your solo or a couple but definitely not for 4 people unless your on a very tight budget
    Rob_Yeo's avatar
This is the difference what for a family of 4 at around an extra £200 the pictures say it all

Read some recent reviews of P&O it's not what it used to be even the serious cheerleaders are looking elsewhere.

Fjords are great cruises we prefer the longer ones in the summer that do North Cape.

Not understanding the rooms and what's best, what's the best rooms for good quality sleep. I don't require a view.
    Gadgetdeals's avatar
It's actually cabins or also know as staterooms if you want to play the cruising game but yes everyone understands room. If going for a Bella grade cabin that is the grade where you select the type of cabin and MSC select the location so you have no control of that, sometime you can get upgraded, I did on my last cruise (and first) and got given a balcony cabin on deck 9 which was fantastic, but in truth I only went on the balcony 3 times and kept the curtains shut as I just sept in there.

IF you go for a Fantastica grade cabin you can select your cabin from the deck plan and you also get a few more perks for the extra small amount, I have done this for a cruise at Christmas and next Easter but taken a punt on a Bella for next weeks cruise as a cabin is a cabin to me, I just need a bed.

I would avoid under a nightclub, busy restaurants, the sundecks where you could hear things being slid about, also the corridors along the side fo the ship are never ending so I have gone for ones near the lifts, it saves a hundred yards or so walk up thin corridors at night searching for your cabin as they all look the same. Mid ships middle gets less sway than upper decks but my last cruise was the perfect weather so not experienced it on this ship.

Have a look at this plan and work out where you would feel comfortable, the lifts are computer controlled and work fantastically well. Good luck!

Seems the MSC charge for a lot of extras when you’re onboard.
    getmore4less's avatar
Not if you plan properly, same with a lot of cruise lines, you can do a cruise with zero add on cost or a well planned cost with some research.

12nights £400 as we did not have a drinks package, rest of our choices prepaid.

8 night zero cost on board all pre-booked.

    ...

Another thing with some cruise lines the Extras that might cost just don't exist on other lines, or they are quite a bit more expensive.

If you want a one stop shop have a look at Marella, but add the premium to get the better drinks cans and premium coffee/tea

I have travelled with MSC Virtuosa last november with my then 1 year old and i have to say it was the best holiday be had so far. Quite lavish, modern and lovely ship and lovt staff. Food was very very good and appeals to everyone. So if your thing of going i wouldnt think twice

Anyone have any idea of drink prices once onboard? Been toying with adding a drinks package to my booking for 17th March but it’s £203pp so £406 for me and my wife, and then £98 for my daughter, so £504. We won’t be drinking much alcohol as we are not huge drinkers and we will be looking after my daughter who is 5, but we will have the odd pint/glass of wine, and as the drinks package includes soft drinks, I’m wondering if £504 is good value considering we can help ourselves to soft drinks all day as well as alcohol? Hard to say as everyone is different but has anyone been and regretted not buying the drinks package or the opposite?
    Rob_Yeo's avatar
Read the link below MSC have increased the prices on board as of the 27th February
    definitely buy a drinks package
On board is more expensive if you would have added the premium drinks package when you booked it would have been around £180 to £220 .
msc want £392 if you add it on after booking your holiday
Always add the drinks package before not after

Are all of those drinks shown included with the cheapest drink package? I thought I’d read somewhere it only covers drinks that cost up to £6 which only includes Heineken, alcohol free cocktails and soft drinks from those lists, is that right? (edited)

If I drove down to Southampton is there parking at the docks if so any idea how much it'd cost for the week? Thinking of going on the 31st March with the premium drinks states £692.80 for inside room for single person 👌🏻
    getmore4less's avatar
Parking at the port is with ABP super convenient but expensive(£114) even with the discount(some have found 30%) £80+

Next best if available is Ibis/Novotel private parking (yourparkingspace) £29 week 7-10min walk, drop bags first then park.

Next is West quay multi story(next to premier in and Moxi)
    Then council multi storey carparks.

31st(and 7th) is Easter holidays ship will be rammed with kids.

Probably capacity will be 5.5k-6k those weeks been running around 3.5k which is comfortable. (edited)

Might be worth putting the itinerary in the description otherwise people might think its a cruise from southampton to southampton with no stops

Not bad , but I only get tempted by £45-£55 a night now lol . Sometimes passion for cruises will have £55-£60 a night for solos with balcony and premium drinks package for £60 per night . I did post a deal last year for that . They also have a deal now 7 nights on the newest MSC ship with premium drinks .
  16. Rob_Yeo's avatar
What is £61 different’s in cruise prices nothing
Also going into April better weather I would have though maybe?.
I am going on the 17th that was only £950 for 2 people inside with premium drinks package but I paid £1240 for the rear view balcony much more space than a inside stateroom well worth the extra to select your own stateroom of your choice if you can afford a bit extra.
it didn’t want to take the chance on a free upgrade on deck eight above the lifeboats or deck 14 below the buffet restaurant or the metal obstructed view decking above your balcony that’s what ones you get normally the ones MSC can’t sell not very good location or by the crew stairway doors where cases coming on & off every day apart from sea days
would have booked this date myself but had to use my holiday up from work before end of March
I my opinion well worth the extra £61
    Bargain once again
    Gadgetdeals's avatar
I had a balcony on deck 9 foreword last time, 2 above the lifeboats but perfect to jump in one as I have no idea how 8,000 people get into 22 of those (6,300 passengers and 1,700 crew). I see 11 lifeboats each side!

I only went on my balcony 3 times to take some pics and even then all it was was sea apart from Rotterdam harbour, I personally wouldn't waste my money on it, the ship is SO huge and so many places to go and people to see you never are in your cabin, I was only ever in there to sleep, didn't even shower in there as I used the Spa twice a day. The same goes for the 'Yacht Club' experience level, I really don't understand that, saw a video of a duplex with an upstairs and hot tub on an enclosed balcony, what a very lonely existence that would be, no banter in the hot tub just sitting alone like Billy no mates, and as for eating in the cabin, what on earth its that about, why go on a cruise buy a caravan! Oh and the exclusive dining room eat when you want, well for £100 you can dine in 4 beautiful restaurants on the ship, far better than the Yacht Club dinner hall. In the Yacht club they also have a lounge there for the Billy no mates, no atmosphere just so called butlers roaming around with white gloves on, what on earth is all that pretentious fake rubbish about this is 2023? I don't even take my own Butler There are 21 bars/cocktail bars on board and lounges everywhere so in 7 days it's tough even getting around all of them, I only found the mega sky lounge the day before we docked back home, its lovely, you then have the Horizon bar at the stern, again I only found that the day before we got back, so to be stuck in a ship within a ship as they call it for £4,000 extra, well that's not for me, you have to be a fruitcake to do that, you know what even if it was free I don't even think I would take it, well Ok I might just to see I was in the Spa with people from the yacht club, they get an hour a day free, I had to keep reminding them to get out I had a Spa all day everyday pass for £82 bought BEFORE I sailed, on board its 70 Euro a day!

Here is the Yacht Club price for the 17th March Northern Europe trip if any fruitcakes want to go, oh! you get free drinks and mini bar, BUT if you touch the toblerone, or mini tubes of crisps you HAVE to pay for replacements

If you want to see what you are getting for the money see the video below the price image, I actually think you would get more company if you were placed in the Brig on the ship (Cells), Although I'm not sure she knows where she is, note: its very painful to watch so fast forward is your friend

Definitely better going the end of March than the beginning of March especially only being £61 more expensive a no brainier in my opinion

Why not do both! I’ve done Feb now doing March

These trips are cheap but not that unusually cheap as cruises go.

£500pw basic cabin AI is a reasonable target.

There are more of these as people are not into northern cruises in winter most lines do long trips to get use of the ships

MSC have this short cruise winter niche with capacity and looking to get new people onto ships that have been too stupid to recognise the value that's been there for years.

Looking like it's been working :/

If anyone wants bar menu prices let me know and I will post them, there are 21 bars on board!  Oh I’m on board now, no idea what country I’m in as I just woke up, just looks like more docks.

There are 13 HUKD members on here and there were quite a few in the night club last night, we have had the most fantastic time very friendly and fun people, we just meet up occasionally and have a laugh, nice to see friendly faces about and stop by for a cocktail, you can actually drink more than you think, my eyes stopped working at about 3am yesterday when I got out of the club I couldn’t see my phone keyboard so had a dry day yesterday, well until dinner time when I was easily led to clubs and bars, but eyes still working at 5am when I got back this morning, having a couple of Pina colada with full English now

Hi all, this is a bit of a longshot.

I made a mistake with my booking and ended up booking this cruise for 03/03 dates instead of 31/03 (genuine error ). Only realised after receiving my confirmation email from SeaScanner. I may still be able to make these dates absolute worst case.

Does anyone have a direct contact number or way to get in touch with SeaScanner? My only option appears to be their web form.

Any help would be very much appreciated. (I know it was an incredibly dumb mistake!!) (edited)
    Gadgetdeals's avatar
No telephone number all documented in these threads on Virtuosa, only email and they took 4 days to reply to me so get emailing SOON, that is the cost of buying cheap I'm afraid as its all computerised, you will see I gave a warning to make sure everything is absolutely correct before pressing buy now if using Seascanner, I use cruise.co.uk now who own seascanner.

food any good on these boats?
    Rob_Yeo's avatar
Depends on what you like there is something for everyone but I have experienced better food on other cruise company’s but you will pay a lot more money so yes in my opinion i don’t think you will be disappointed I would definitely go for at least one of the specialty dining experience but book before you board the ship
  26. samsung_tv's avatar
I'd highly recommend you avoid going on this cruise...read the latest tripadvisor reviews before booking...approx 50% of people would NOT recommend going on this cruise!

Be warned i've been on this ship and it was the worst cruise I've ever been on...there were fights on board, staff were miserable, food was terrible, our room door locking mechanism stopped working and the staff did not help, they simply told us to leave our door unlocked for the entire cruise!

There were queues for everything, most mornings we had to spend 45 minutes queuing just to get a table for breakfast as they only have two places open for breakfast with one closing before 9am!

They ran out of soft drinks after 24 hours , they then ran out of tea bags on day 2!

We spent approx 18 hours queuing to speak to guest services about various issues including no drinks package being set up etc. On returning to the UK I complained and received a generic reply blaming 'covid' for all of the issues...

FYI I am in my 30's and have cruised with Virgin Voyages, Royal Caribbean, P&O and MSC, I've been on 8 cruises in total...this was the worst I've ever been on I would of much rather stayed at home and saved my money. (edited)

The 15% is a bit of smoke and mirrors to suck people in others have the same offer,

Prices are dynamic behind all the discount offers.

MSC also fiddle with the drinks package prices.

Go for the £203 package WHEN booking, we drunk that on the first day easily! We must have drunk that every day so far, I had a dry day yesterday to recover then had a drink with my dinner as it was gala night, that led to different shows and bars, Karaoke, Attic club until 3.45am ish then to the Casino bar until 5 -5.15am, even having been dry until 7.45am I totally smashed that last night, it’s just so nice to drink whatever you want where you want when you want, we must do 30 drinks a day easily, so like 10-15 throughout the day, 12 in the night club and say 4 or 5 in the casino bar. Hope that helps
    cooknaris's avatar
Thanks! I won’t be drinking anywhere near that much though as I’ll have the kids, I do wish I’d have booked it when booking the cruise though… Can you tell me when the shows are likely to be? I see it is £9 per person for the shows which includes a cocktail, but I’ve heard it’s more expensive to book once on board. But, it says ‘day of booking to confirmed on board’, so I’m reluctant to book in case the shows are smack bang of the middle of the day when we could be off exploring one of the places were docked at. Or, are the shows only on sea days/evenings when everyone is back on board? (edited)

Thanks for all your info. You have helped so much by making it a lot smoother as some of the info isn’t clear. I have booked the premium drinks package, spa package and a £9 show with your help before boarding.

Are the tropical pool drink prices included in the drinks package as well??

Really looking forward to this. As you say, able to sit back and enjoy without having to worry about the pennies.
