Just got Hive myself so might give this a go to see if it does make a difference, or is just a novelty.

All I'd say here is this Hive Heating Plus is promoting features that most of us could work out ourselves without it. These savings it suggests are just "if you turn your heating down a degree you'll save XX" or if you only have your heating on for XX hours...etc.

This is all well and good but when you've got the other half cranking it up whenever she feels a chill (and that's after I've encouraged her to stick on a jumper...even offered to get it ) it just doesnt pan out.

I have a smart meter and I get historic stats from that so I'm not really seeing that element of benefit. Might be good though if you plan on hammering the 10% discount on other hive products.

The app Hugo which is also free and shows your smart meter info is similar to this so I decided to cancel after my 3-month trial with HIve.

Not worth the money at all. Not even half of half, unless your wealthy. It's useful information and I have learnt from using it, however I got it free for a year - I will not be renewing for cost. Being able to see what I use daily, weekly, monthly and how it compares to yesterday. last week, last year etc is interesting and useful. I like that they have the high and low temp each day so when your looking at your usage you can see obvious reasons and patterns based on temp

Waste of time and money, tried it and like all the Hive ecosystem I have is now pretty much a dead duck in terms of support, cameras, and glass detection gone, never had any updates, support is hopeless, but it works for now I guess.

    Hive is very disappointing!
cameras are discontinuing from 2025 no more support for it all. Thieving buggers

Must say I echo this. I'm hoping to move house next year and won't be taking Hive thermostat and lights (3 rooms with downlights). Not impressed - find it very buggy despite setting it up hoping it would nicely and smartly automate the home for heating and lighting (have hue in other rooms without such issues).

You're not the only one and you get several days heating usage graphs as standard which I would imagine is all most people would need.

We have a Hive system, appears to be the past 7 days worth of stats... Plenty really.

If like me you put the heating on at set times it's largely pointless.

Had the email from them earlier, promptly deleted it when I saw what little it offered

I tried the months free trial and no matter how I tried could not find a way to cancel without refusing payment. It basically shows what you used in hours which you can track on a note on your phone as basic hive shows you it by day. Hive plus gives you it retrospectively for a couple of years . I’m a numbers person I like tracking stuff if your too lazy to track yourself use this for £20 not too much but make sure you cancel in loads of time as they make it impossible

I had a 1 year trial but the same thing I couldn't find a way to cancel anywhere. Then found there's no payment details for them to actually use on my account, so still there for now. I expect they want you to phone to try and persuade you to keep it.

I quite like it, as my smart meter is a bit flakey and the free Loop app can't read my gas meter. I like the day view to see how much the heating has been on and when. You can easily see if you are saving anything over the same month last year. Also the alerts are useful if you are budgeting. I was only going to subscribe for the winter months, but might consider all year at this price. I have the radiator smart valves so the extra warranty might come in useful too.

How do you like the TRV's? Toolstation have them for £44 at the mo so was thinking of picking up a few to allow me to keep the bedroom ones off through the day and control downstairs better as I work from home most of the time.

Had it when they offered free to trial. Found it pretty pointless if honest. But just my opinion.

I had this on a free 12 month trial but have just cancelled it as I didn't see the point and it wasn't even accurate. It was up to £40 a month off on my usage compared to my smart meter

This will only count heating ( through thermostat) I’m guessing you have a combi boiler so the discrepancy is probably your hot water usage , bath , shower etc which the thermostat won’t pick up in

    Don’t trust Hive/ British Gas.
After spending a fortune on on hive heating, all the rad valves and their security system including cameras, window and door sensors, lights etc they had decided to cease any online support/usage for the security systems ie I won’t be able to to set the alarm remotely or view any cameras I have or for the cameras to record any footage rendering the full system useless.
The cameras just brick themselves and you can’t get any replacements as they’ve ceased making them because they are useless , always loosing connection, need resetting and lots of calls to customer services to resolve the issues.
Even though they know they have sold thousands and thousands of these cameras and security systems instead of refunding their customers for their shoddy equipment they have stopped manufacturing it under the guise that they want to concentrate on their devices being more eco friendly . Although this totally contradicts its self as all these devices will need binning in a year or so anyway because if they even are still working they will not anymore at their end….. how eco friendly is that !
Couple this with all the bugs their devices have and need rebooting and reconnecting every month or so including the rad valves that seem to always need recalibrating , I would steer clear from any of their products ….unfortunately I bought fully into this brand as I wanted everything in one place ( app)
As the person above said , when I move house I’ll be leaving all this junk. (edited)

I think you have a case under Sales of goods act. As any device should be fit for purpose for 6 years

Waste of money these features should be free trv’s are horrendous very inaccurate come on when they shouldn’t for a bit like there’s a lag then go off. Constantly recalibrating which is a mare to get completed. Avoid trvs and the subscription

Don't bother with hive. My Hive TRVs have a number of issues and support just are not interested.

I have this on free 12 month trial. I won't be renewing at any price other than free. It's useful to get an idea of the daily cost of gas heating, but as others have commented a smart meter does this more accurately in that includes gas cooking too. I doubt any of the tips or nudges it offers will save any money let alone the cost of subscription. I think BG should give this service for free as an incentive to buy into Hive.

BG would win back a huge amount of lost goodwill if they offered a trade in or exchange program for the Hive Cameras they are no longer supporting. In Every Hive discussion the furious and justified camera owning haters wade in expressing doubts about the whole future of Hive. BG would do well to reassure future customers they are fully committed to Hive.

Seems that no one likes the Hive Plus, however, I do have the Hive TRVs and they all seem to be working very well. We now have schedules for each room set up and only heat the rooms at the times we use them only had them a couple of months but no problems so far. Last gas bill was over £100 less than one a couple of months back. Only draw back is that you lose the ‘ready by’ feature, but I have a feeling that was one of the reasons we were using so much gas.

You can only really compare with the same month last year as every month is different, even then the weather will have a huge effect, that’s why Hive plus will show you the highest and lowest temperatures for the month alongside your usage.
