What CAD software are people using? Always fancied a printer but put off by complexity of software and learning curves! (edited)

Fusion 360, free for non commercial use. Freecad, tinkercad and onshape are also popular in the 3d printing community.

Why are they all so big? Can anyone recommend a small 3D printer? Only want it for electronic project boxes really.

If you buy a small one you will regret it, once you have printed what you want, you will see tons of other things to print that are too big for your small printer. Look at stuff on here before you buy anything.

I’ve got a BIG one, but it’s still not big enough.

I got this printer at the end of last year, my first go at 3d printing and it's been perfect for me as a begginer. I've printed lots of useful things, I was impressed with this graphics card support49840764-P6nmq.jpg

Out of interest, what does everyone do with their 3d printers? I've always wanted one but I have no use for it

I thought the same thing after I got mine, once i'd done printing gimmicky things to show people it seemed pointless. It does get little use from me now but there is the odd thing I print, cable clips for under my desk, phone holder, headphone stand, graphics card support etc but all that stuff can be had next day off Amazon.

It's definitly more for tinkerers that like tech

Do all 3D printers take the same plastic raw material to print? What stuff do you buy and how much (qty & £)?

Mostly yes but there are some specialised printers for things like metal, human tissue, cement for building houses, but the list is endless and it’s changing every day. Generally for beginners and hobbyists there are about 6 and they cost from £8 up to stupid money for carbon fibre filament. You will need to look on the web for more information as there is so much out there.

Buy this, print a 3D printer then return this. Easy money.

You cannot print electronic parts. Guess the guy missed that part.

What would you recommend with slightly bigger budget? Around 800-1000? Ideally ready to go that diy

Check out the bambulab P1P or X1, the P1P is probably the best value around at the moment. I have a Prusa mk3s+ and barely use it now.

Apologies for the obnoxious comments I've posted in this thread.
Had a few Friday night drinks and got a bit lary.
I hate revisiting threads I've posted in the morning after

I have an Ender 5 and looking for another to sit alongside it up to £300.
Saw this but it doesn't offer up a deal, can be had elsewhere for same price.
S1 Pro looks good, £359 from Creality or £479 from Amazon, quite a shift.

Yeah, I know that next day feeling, I just opened the site and there were 6 messages, I thought omg, who have I upset this time, I’m autistic so I just say what I mean, without considering people’s feelings, so sorry to everyone from me as well.

Great price for an entry level printer with auto leveling and from a reputable brand 👌

Price is matched elsewhere so not a great deal.
    S1 Pro is better.

Ender 3 max neo £330 on Amazon for anyone who doesn’t think £150 isn’t a good deal.

    Amazon prices are weird. (edited)
