Crappy RT performance, inferior upscaling tech, no frame generation. Get a 4070Ti unless you need the Vram.

RT performance that cuts your frame rates in half ? frame generation that adds latency to the games ? Literarlly nobody uses this tech, only ones that brag about it is Nvidia trying to sell you stuff that you don't need.

Wouldn't buy anything from these people after the way they ripped people off during covid.

That Gibbo fella was basically laughing at the customers in the forums whilst sitting on stock to increase prices.

The nickname of 'Overchargers UK' is well deserved and the state of what people get away with saying on their 'family friendly' forums is shocking.

Amd multi monitor support is way better than nvidias

Best part of a grand for a GPU. Well i have to hand it to nVidia and AMD. They’ve normalised price gouging. (edited)

I've always had Nvidia cards but with the way things are, I have been looking more at AMD. However I have recently bought an Alienware AW3821DW....some people have told me that the Gsync benefit is overstated and AMD would be just as good...any thoughts?

I havent nailed down the rest of the build yet, had a GTX980 for past 8 years so want to upgrade to DDR5 build and to play newer games at decently high settings.

Gsync - good. You get Freesync with AMD cards which is pretty much the same and nearly all gaming monitors support it - not really a deal breaker when you're looking at the GPU. AMD cards are very good value for money and drivers + software have got much better. Unless Ray Tracing is a must for you, AMD GPUs are a good buy. What resolution are you planning to play at?

£799 is the RRP on these reference cards. Shame all the others are still scalping.

Yep, it's still decent performance in the current hellscape that is the graphics card market for the money though.

The reference cards are usually the better ones to go for on the 7900 XT as well, since they don't suffer from the vapour chamber issue & are quite compact with better output options.

Most non-reference cards don't have USB-C for example which will be a pain if VR every does take off. An sometimes require 3 8 pin connectors which can cause PSU compatbility issues.

I’ve only ever gone AMD once and it was painstakingly painful with poor drivers. Driver would eventually crash after a few hours of gaming. Never had a driver crash once with Nvidia. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything with these newer cards with driver crashes?

My 6900XT had perfect drivers but it's pretty well documented that you have to wait a year with AMD to get the good drivers.

I have this card and think it is great for 4k gaming.

It plays Hogwarts legacy and other recent titles and well over 60fps at 4k.

You are not going to get decent RT performance on a 4070ti at 4k (thinking 60fps) so the RT argument goes out of the window.

With RT off the performance is similar to a 4080 but for around £400 less (edited)

    Couple of points
    1) i used to 'kick the still twitching corpse" of OCUK due to a horrendous experience with a "pre order' at the 3080 release and it literally going up with surge pricing between basket stages, but they redeemed themselves when i brought a reference 7900xtx from them and they handled my RMA due to the AMD heatsink failing situation.

    2) brought a 4070ti with the refund and saved £350 quid. for my usage, that was the right move. but be under no mistake, the 7900XT at £808 is excellent (considering the general pricing) - i really think if u have £800 to buy a GPU and ur not fussed about pathtracing on 20 year old games(portal RTX is good tho!!), this is one hell of a card.

Manage to get a powercolor red devil 7900xt which came with a free powercolor ducky keyboard worth £99 apparently for £900 a couple of months ago. I Had to send to back for RMA due to RGB flickering issue on static colours had a new order dated 9th march after this promo was launched so got a code for the game sent aswell so basically paid £750 for the card if you factor in the price of the free keyboard and game massive upgrade from my previous card RX480 lol (edited)

Does this even run Last of Us? (Considering the performance issues XD)
    Mir22's avatar
Don't think so, i have an i7 13700k, 6800xt, 64gb ram and still the game crashes every 5-10 minutes

I upgraded my 2 year old RTX 3090 to a Red Devil 7900 XTX and I don't miss any of Nvidias features. It's an incredibly powerful card and is easily undervolted to gain extra performance.
It's almost 35k Timespy score shows it has plenty of raw power. Just needs the drivers to mature to get the most out of it.

I was also genuinely surprised by the AMD UI and how easy it is to use.
