Lycamobile Alo Turks SIM card

Has anybody bought and used the above and if so any feedback? £15 for 15gb, 30 days.
Going to Antalya next month and I'll be wanting to use my phone for Google maps and Ubers, so don't want to rely on free WiFi in cafes.
My phone will not accept esim.
I take it you can put the SIM in prior to travel and check it works in the UK?
TIA

According to Turkish law, all SIM cards must be registered, and can only be purchased with a valid passport.

So I wonder how you do that registration.

Also if you have a recent iPhone or Pixel, you may be able to buy an eSIM.

It's not a Turkish SIM, it's a LycaMobile UK SIM with free roaming in Turkey on that plan, so it will not need to registered there.

You can download offline google maps as well so your phone can use less data when you're out and about

I am now currently in Antalya and the SIM worked as soon as I turned on my phone. I believe you can either auto top up or choose to buy a top up if you use all your data or time out.
My Lycamobile app still is showing 14.92 GB but maybe it refreshes on a 24 HR period.

I picked up a SIM today and activated it with the Aloturka L bundle. I'll be in Antalya at the weekend, so this is an excellent solution 🏻

Did you have to register the sim? (edited)

No. Put the SIM in and you immediately get a text confirming the number.
I did get the Lycamobile app and registered the SIM on that, I can check my data usage and top up via that should I choose to do.
Sunny blue skies this morning in Antalya!!!!

I am currently in Antalya, and the Lycamobile SIM has been great. I have been tethering to my kid's iPads when travelling, too, and it is working well.

I think as the SIM is purchased outside of turkey it is not needed to be registered. My phone will not accept esims.

It'll definitely work in UK, in fact best to try it here first and make sure it's all activated and working etc. It's a new product so not heard much about it but would be interested if it works well?

I can confirm that the alo turka S SIM card works in the UK and appears to be preloaded with 15gb data as advertised.
Will report back from Turkey next week.....or not.....

Can you buy one of their Sims and add the package later?

Hi Cat, can you confirm if you were able to do this? I'd like to pick up a SIM in a shop and then add the package online, I don't have time to wait for a SIM to arrive in the post. Hope you enjoyed your trip!

In Turkey at moment and using the Alo Turka S lycomobike sim. It's just giving data with no text or calls. When I had confirmation it said unlimited texts and calls. But it now seems that this only applies in EU.

Did your texts and calls work in the end please? Thinking of getting one for later this month

No texts or calls in Turkey included on this Lycomobile Alo Turk sim card . Need to buy a bundle and calls charged at normal roaming rates for Turkey. But I am doing OK with the 5GB data for Turkey on the
sim and free WiFi at hotel. Using Facebook and WhatsApp.

On advice told to use SIM to contact customer services only to be told this would invalidate a refund after the event

I bought aloturka L SIM to use whilst in Turkey in december.as needed to keep in touch with family as father in law dying which sadly coincided with partners 60th. Go back 19th Dec 23 last use of sim, dis engaged. Tried app to cancel SIM renewal, you have to wait 2 days for confirmation. Tried twice. Yep renewal was taken!? Emailed explaining situation for refund. Told to fing 377 and text to 150 to cancel. Thus l, engaged SIM. These failed as no texts or calls allowed with data SIM. Emailed again told as I used SIM, albeit under direction they can no longer give refund. Martin Lewis resolver case stated to to contact offcom as this was policy and process problem. So for 1gb data use in Dec before renewal cost £50 you decide good value. If not my other option was to get Turkcell or vodaphone tourist SIM on arrival. But due to situation felt Lyca pre-bought SIM better. How mistaken was I. There advice, my mistake my loss!! I have screen shots of non call, no data, email of advice to use SIM after renewal that blocked refund. Which I have sent to Lyca, offtell and trading standards. I will post this on other media sites as stated in email to Lyca. They ignored this stating I used SIM after renewal so no refund despite their instruction to do so to engage with customer services!
