Don't forget to download your order history from Chain Reaction (and Wiggle) folks before 24th April. Else it will be gone.
I work in IT and would be embarrassed to lose customer data because of a system upgrade

The weight will be due to the burlier components, big wheels (with wide rims), chunky tyres, and 180mm fork - this an is an enduro bike optimised for going downhill, and taking a battering, so weight isn't so much a priority. In fact a bit of weight helps when going downhill. (edited)

You could buy a nice car for that money. (Sorry, just thought I'd get in there first.)

Can I claim my £2,039.99 back if this bike doesn't survive WW3?

Just the brand name, this is carbon framed so a race horse rather than a tank.

Given the tiny front cassette? Not sure if that is the right word. Would this thing top out at 10mph on the flat? Seems very small.

The point is more that the range on these things is massive, a 30x51 is roughly equivalent to a 21x36, so a lower climbing gear than even the smallest triples (usually bottom out at 22 small ring). Even if you put a 34t front on for better top end, climbing gear would be equivalent to a 22x34 gear. All you really miss out on is a load of finer spaces between the gears and all the maintenance, faff and weight of a front derailleur.

Great price if you fit. Some really great bargains to be had because of stupid forecasting and plummeting sales

Are these carbon bikes durable? I remember reading that carbon fibre is strong in one orientation and prone to shatter in the other.

Is that still the case? Is it less likely to survive a collision with rock vs an alloy frame?
