PolyX Breaker Technology With their PolyX Breaker, Continental bring PKW know-how to the bike tyre arena – Polyester has been used successfully for years in car tyres and been tried and tested many times. The extremely resistant polyester fibre is woven tightly crosswire making a very high fabric density which not only makes the Breaker more resistant to foreign objects but is also resistant to punctures. The rolling resistance is not affected either by the PolyX Breaker

Seems like a nice deal. But from the attached review in the deal description I gather the puncture resistance isn't great?

Everyone always complains about punctures on tyre reviews unless it's something like the 1kg Schwalbe marathon plus.

You're never going to get the same resistance in a 250g tyre as a 1kg tyre.

You just have to pick your budget and what is important to you. I am a fan of continental.

I have WTB Exposure 32 tyres which have bad reviews but I did 50 miles off road (gravel type terrain) on the trans Pennine trails with zero issues.

Luck and being observant over what's ahead seems to be very important.

I don't know about ultrasport III, but the II were awful. I had them one summer and had 3 punctures in 2 months. Since moving to GP 4 seasons and GP5000 I've had 2 punctures in 3000 miles I'd say

My bike came with these on, would the ones in the deal be an upgrade?

Trying not to be rude, but that looks like a very expensive wheel. So it would be a very expensive bike that would have that on it. Do you need that level of bike, if you don't recognise the tyres?

The TR bit means tubeless ready, by the way. You can fit those tyres without inner tubes, as long as you have tubeless ready wheels

I don’t care what tyres you use, just don’t get in the way of me in my SUV

I’m new to cycling and just picked up a Trek Domane AL3. It has Bontrager R1 (700x32), I’ve heard they are not great in the rain, would these fit my bike?

Coming from a life time of mountain bike ownership, road bikes are on a different level. Everything is different!

Depends on the wheels but it’s generally accepted that the best upgrade you can do for a bike is the wheels.

What wheels do you have on there?

    Any good deals on 27s?

Wiggle had Continental Gatorskin 27" for £10 each but think they have sold out as I can't find them

Are these easier to get on and off the wheels than marathon plus? The difficulty with the MP tyres have put me off cycling completely

If you're running those Schwalbe's, I'm not sure these would be a great move - the bikes I have them on are for urban riding where I'm less bothered about weight, grip and rolling resistance and purely trying to avoid pushing my bike home!
