Details

Setting the standard for durability and grip quality, the Gator Hardshell model is ideal for daily commuting and is a high mileage rider’s dream tyre.

Based on the top-selling Gatorskin racing tyre but offering even more puncture resistance, it’s constructed with Continental’s Duraskin® edge-to-edge protection. Plus, the hardshell casing extends all the way to the tyre’s sidewall too.

These layers are also combined with a PolyX Breaker that covers the tyre’s entire tread for even better puncture resistance.

looks like wire bead but still brilliant price for a commuter bike

I'm still one of those crazies riding 23mm though so this is no good for me

I hope you are enjoying the unnecessary discomfort on your 23s

Pardon my ignorance, but would a 32-mm tire fit on a specialized sirus with 25 mm currently fitted? thanks

Depends on frame clearance and tyre rim width. The tyres will fit on the rims, but if the rims are particularly narrow, the profile of the tyre will be skewed. I'd assume that you'd have enough frame clearance, but you've also got to consider mudguards -if you've got them then it's highly unlikely you'll shoe horn 32s under there

    A 28 should be safe, 32s? That's a maybe.

At this price you could give them a try and if they don't fit you'll be able to sell them on

Really bald tread pattern, must be a very special rubber to give any wet grip?
    Jim1_Smith's avatar

These tend to be sketchy in the wet thanks to the compound but bike tyres don't need grooves cut in to disperse water.

Used to use these on my winter bike, covered thousands of miles. They are bomb proof and rarely puncture, but are very heavy due to wire bead and have rubbish grip in the wet, I got sideways a couple of times... Twitchy bum time!

Don't believe for a second that this was a mistake. They knew exactly what they were selling. It's what most salesmen do. After reading the comments, I sent them a message to cancel the order. The day after they shipped the items. Two days later they replied to return the items.
So, now I have to pay £2.99 for postage, print labels and go to a drop-off point.
WTF is this?! I'll never shop here again. Any site that doesn't have a contact number or any other way to chat with them, it's a big red flag. Unacceptable.

    From CRC..

"How much is return postage and who pays for it?
Return postage can vary depending on where you’re posting your parcel from and the item(s) you’re returning. Prices can be found on our online returns portal when you go to create your return.

Postage on standard returns is not refundable.

But, if your item is being returned because of our error (damaged, defective, wrong item, etc.), we will mark the return as free, where possible, or refund standard postage costs. Please get in touch with our Customer Services team first if there's a problem with your item before returning it."

Just received mine - all of them are 630, not 622, so NOT 700 x 32! They're the 27 inch version!

What a great deal. Unfortunately I got a Giant SCR bike that came with 26mm tyres, don't think this would fit.

Becareful, read these don't have good traction on wet roads.

    Fantastic spot @AndLaz

I picked up a few pairs of 28's a week or so ago and thought they were a steal at about £13 but under £10 a tyre, shipped is amazing!

Great price I just don’t know how the tubeless 5000s TR I bought recently are 75 each. The new all season are 90. Madness (edited)

Wow, those are serious prices! I've picked up a few GP5000 on ebay for bargain prices.

Have you seen the new kid on the block, the CST Cito? They look interesting. They're not right up there with the super high end rubber but I might've gone for some had I been in the market for the tyre's.

I run these on my Orbea Gain and they have been excellent, paid £10 for a new pair last time from Biketreks so £20 a pair is quite the price increase (edited)

They're too big for their boots - stick to you local bike shop!!
    Jim1_Smith's avatar
    Jim1_Smith
Easy to say, stick to your lbs, but no one bought these tyres because they couldnt find them locally, they bought them because they were cheap, and you're lbs invariably doesnt do cheap!

That's why I've learned to service my own bikes and buy my parts online. The owner of my closest bike shop is an arrogant (insert expletive of choice) who only cares about the money he makes. Yet the one across town is run by some great guys who are always happy to chat and offer up some advice.

They refused to honour the initial "deal" and said it's just a refund - anything else and I'd have to re-order! They can position their "reorder" where there's no sun shining!
  23. Jim1_Smith's avatar
    Jim1_Smith
Time to take to twitter and post about how poor their "customer service" is! The more people that do that, the better. Unless someone actually had a genuinely positive experience with them? 🤦🏻

They often have good prices and its all good until something goes wrong, then they are the worst as no phone number and you have to type your problem over and over to different people.
