A good price for these speakers. Not the lowest but a bit lower than the £79 these usually drop to.

Speaker legends don't get much bigger than the Wharfedale Diamond 9.0.

The original small hi-fi speaker
It's hard to believe that the original Wharfedale Diamond is now past its thirtieth birthday. All those decades ago, it was the Diamond speaker that proved, for the first time, that excellent quality sound could be achieved from a small, budget speaker. Since then there have been dozens of imitators, but the Diamonds remain amongst the best available.

Solid construction
The cabinet isn't just compact, it's also very solid. This combination gives the Diamonds an extremely accurate sound quality as the cabinet doesn't flex or vibrate. Equally impressive are the drive units. A soft dome tweeter gives the clarity and smoothness of sound you'd expect from a more expensive speaker, while the woofer cone uses a carbon fibre type weave to offer extremely taut and responsive bass.

Surprisingly powerful
With a front port, these bass reflex speakers are punchier than you might expect and in no way could they ever be described as tinny. Over all, they may be small but the sound is grown-up, with excellent staging, realism and surprisingly powerful.

Hi-fi connections
It's not just the major aspects of the design that Wharfedale have got right, it's the details, too. Proper 4mm banana sockets will accept thick cable and offer the best type of connection. Threaded sockets at the rear make for secure and easy bracket attachment.

At their original launch price of £100 these speakers were clearly market leaders. Now we're offering them at this bargain price, the Diamond 9.0 speakers are a gem of a deal!

They can't be still making these surely, I had a pair of these nearly 20 years ago lol

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
A brilliant pair of budget speakers that produce a sound beyond their price point. Just my opinion though.

Amazon has price matched if you can't be bothered ringing a store.

    Decent for the price.

People miss the point as to why these are still in production. They actually make a very decent surround speaker option. Cheap, decently made, easy to drive and pretty compact.

As a main pair they're not good.

Yep! These are perfect for a set of rear speakers.

Richard must have all the stock of these left in the known universe ! But, as mentioned, you won’t get better than this for sixty quid

Can I plug a record player into these? It has a built in preamp, it was the HMV one on here a few months back hotukdeals.com/dea…897

No you'll still need an amp, pre amp is different. You could get a little T Amp from ebay for a tenner or so, they work well

Bought these yesterday, turned up today. Was surprised how small they are. Haven't tried them out yet so can't comment on sound quality, but am guessing that a subwoofer will probably be needed to beef up the bass.

Yeah, took me by surprise too when they arrived. But actually worked out perfectly as my pc speakers on my desk. Bass is better than you'd think.

Got these, great little speakers that really punch above their weight

    I have a wharfedale dx2 5.1 set.

They sound really good in 5.1. but when something in stereo plays it's a little under powered.

If I replace L and R with these will it help or will the rest of the system be mismatched?

Might use the old L and R for 5.1.2
