Waiting for feedback on this cruise as I feel it will be HELL, mine was this week!

I accidentally went on it this week and got off yesterday after returning from Gran Canaria on the ship and unable to get a train back to London due to the train strikes so stayed on and went to Norway, I was told the ship was totally full for this cruise with ours haven had around 5,300 on, so could be 6,300 which is absolute max, I am sure someone on board will update this shortly. The cruise was totally different from the GC one which was a much older group with endless electric buggies, the Norway one seemed to have cheap people on board, when I say cheap I don't mean low earners I mean cheap standards, 500 kids on board with loads school age so skipping school, rubbish left lying around, piles of food left uneaten on plates in the buffet, parents drunk out their heads and kids rolling around on carpets doing cartwheels at midnight, drunken parents pushing buggies totally lost, drunken chanting and waving of arms, rudeness to staff while waiting for a drink, drinking like crazy trying to get their weeks drink allowance down their necks in one day well if you drink 3 times as much you actually create a 3 x bigger queue! Forgetting to change their clocks forward and creating mayhem in dining rooms. Drinks spilt over sofas, spitting in hot tubs, awful awful awful, I can only imagine it being like a Butlins on the sea not that I have been in one, MSC need to be careful they don't give it that reputation but no idea how they vet the passengers, its hard enough to fill cabins during this time. Over my last 7 cruises aboard Virtuosa this year this was the worst ever even beating the booze cruises! If you were one of the arrogant families who had 4 or more kids sitting on the big cream armchairs cross legged in the Virtuosa bar with their faces stuck in phones with thumbs going like hell at 11.30pm, well maybe you would consider letting them play in the rear 1/4/ of the ship that is set up for the kids with basketball court, games centres etc or even take the to bed, not block seats for elderly people to watch a show or have a drink!

Anyway here are some pics from earlier this week, the scenery was amazing, the shops VERY expensive, and a lot of people moaning about the excursions cost v value, but then they are optional and you can't fix stupid, people have a choice but some seem to leave their brains at home, I think some trips didn't match the hype and cost, some people would hide the truth but others more honest, especially the railway at Flam.

What a shame a 3/4 Billion pound ship of outstanding engineering with a dedicated and fantastic crew is only as good as the passengers that get on it, on this occasion unfortunately the standards were as low as I have ever seen, I would have thought tis would have been one of the better cruises but found myself wishing I was back on a booze cruise. Some of these moaning people re just so thick, they absolutely no idea what it takes to run a ship and the fact that they are at sea so no popping round the corner shop to get something, I guarantee not one of the moaners could even calculate the amount of toilet rolls required for this trip never mind the endless supplies to keep a machine of this size running, they should stick to Butlins this ship deserves much much better!

Well I need holiday after that cruise so off to tour California on Sat next week, will return to her in September and leave the summer months of kids and mayhem behind.

Hey gadget - how’d you accidentally go on it? Lol when did you book it? We were thinking of staying on as well but was unable to book through the site.

Wondering if you’re able to purchase an ‘extension’ from deck 5.

We booked this deal last week for the same cruise departing on 12th but went for a balcony cabin and the full drinks package, worked out at £800 each. Can’t wait!

Also worth noting that if you have top tier status with any other cruise line or hotel chain, they’ll give a status match, only takes a couple of days to process. My husband and I have both successfully matched our Diamond IHG hotel status to MSC Gold, which gets us a free spa visit (£70ish each otherwise) as well as various discounts and other minor perks.

Would love a late June/early July fjords cruise from Hull!

    Keep the bargains coming!

Hull only option will be a ferry.

    Oh I see, thanks. That's a shame.

I had to check my pulse because I was pining for the fjords.
It would be nice to see some of Slartibartfast's handiwork.

PININ' for the FJORDS?!?!?!? What kind of talk is that? although does sound better than floating down the mighty rivers of British Columbia with my best gal by my side..

Great find but would never have an inside cabin -I found it very claustrophobic

Only in the cabin to SSS most of the time your eyes are closed.

£527.00 per person with premium drinks package. Bargain. I sailed on Virtuosa in February, beautiful ship and the drinks choice in the premium package was phenomenal and included wine (by the glass) with meals and champagne. Highly recommended.

Cheapest 7n have gone with drinks around £480.

There was a misprice last year that got lower but they don't really count.

This is a better itinerary than the pearls making anything under £600 is decent deal.

This was an easy one there have been some good deals especially for solos out to Sept.

We are giving Virtuosa a rest, back to NCL for the next one and have our eye on either Baltic or med for the one after that depending on getting hotel/flights at reasonable rates. (edited)

I booked this back in October last year, can't wait. Luckily i got a free balcony upgrade so price now is about what i paid
    AN_786's avatar
Hey - how’d you go about getting the upgrade? Is it at check-in at the terminal? Or onboard?

I’ve got a trip coming up - I paid ridiculous price for…which obviously has reduced as it’s getting closer. So wondering how I could go about it - also I’m a diamond MSC member. (edited)

What are they talking about when they say onboard spend on an all inclusive cruise? Can someone please help explain? Looking at my first cruise holiday...

Onboard spend refers to the amount of money that passengers can spend while onboard a P&O cruise ship. This can include a variety of expenses, such as purchases made at the ship's gift shops, spa treatments, etc.
When passengers first board the ship, they will typically receive a cruise card, which serves as their onboard spending account. Passengers can use this card to charge any onboard expenses, and they will settle the final balance at the end of the cruise.
P&O Cruises also offers onboard credit to passengers, which is a pre-loaded amount of money that can be used towards onboard expenses. This credit can be obtained as part of a promotional offer or purchased directly by the passenger.
Overall, onboard spend can vary greatly depending on a passenger's individual preferences and how much they choose to indulge in various onboard activities and amenities.

What is on-board spending money? On-board spending money is what it says on the tin: money for you to spend on board your ship! You can enjoy on-board spending money (as well as a range of other premium benefits) when you book an applicable Select Price holiday with us.
It’s automatically credited to your on-board account and is ready and waiting for you to spend on delicious drinks, speciality dining, shore experiences and much more.

Onboard spending money is usually offered as a bonus when you book a cruise, and the amount you receive will vary depending on the cruise you choose.
There are a few things to keep in mind about onboard spending money:
    (1) it is not refundable if you do not use it all.
    (2) it can only be used on board your ship, and it cannot be used to pay for things like flights or transfers. (3) there may be certain items that are not eligible for purchase with onboard spending money.
Overall, onboard spending money can be a great way to save money on your cruise vacation. It can give you peace of mind knowing that you have some extra money to spend on things you want, and it can help you avoid having to carry a lot of cash on board your ship.

How are they with vegetarian food? I don't even eat eggs (which BTW are not/have never been vegetarian 😁). I don't want to end up eating pizza/chips for the whole my trip. Any ideas anyone who have used them? Thanks.

hehe ... I think you're underestimating just how posh these cruises are ... it's not a ferry boat!

Would not go on that ship again . Try a proper cruise line princess / or RCL / or NCl.

The ship is stunning, the staff/crew are utterly professional and immaculately dressed and presented, the ship is flawlessly clean, unfortunately its the passengers you can't choose, the ship doesn't deserve to have some of that riff riff on board its way above their standards, in my opinion prices are way too cheap for the quality, and that is excluding food which could be slightly better especially the meats, but hey you are paying peanuts so have to accept that plus the speciality restaurants are great and can be had in bulk for around an extra £25 each in advance which is still a bargain.

As for snooty cruises not for me I am afraid, too many so called cruisers are up their own arse having spent their life going around in a tin can thinking they have seen the world when in fact they have only had glimpses. HOWEVER having done the world the real way I must say I do see the attraction of cruising, but with the state of some of the passengers they really should watch what they are eating, there are some enormous people on there filling their faces, just absolute pure greed!

I need a week off between cruises to recover, although Round The World sounds great you would need to be both mentally and physically prepared for that!
