Vine reviews are a complete waste of time and should be routinely ignored...

Can you mix PoE and wireless cameras on the same system using a single NVR?
    Zeketron's avatar
Yes, at least on the cheap NVR I have.

Clever idea that, putting an SD Card in a Camera for a Thief to remove.

Paid £35 for a DVR + 4 x 1080p Cameras from the Bang Good deal Years ago.
Takes 8 Cameras. Put a 4TB Purple in it.

Anyone tried them? I have 4 7yo hd bullet cameras, the are ok, I wish they came with some spider killing system.
The NVR and software are rubbish, the android App is not from Annie and the cameras are not fully compatible, not secured at all, but for the price could be worth.

Just pee on the cameras. Works on foxes and cats so I'm sure it'll work on spiders too (edited)

Not sure but don't you need a nvr capable of human al for it to work.

I recently went with some Annke C800 turrets to add to some 8 year old Hikvision cameras that have served well. These 2023 C500 look much the same just a little lower res (still more than adequate). I don't like the mounts on these overly (too easy to remove, but then ideally a turret should be out of reach), but otherwise I rate them highly, exceptional for the money. (edited)

Personally i would add £10 and get a used hikvision turret that offers night colour/ colourview.

if worried about “spying” just turn off all external internet access and put on a separate vlan.

One thing all consumer POE cameras seem to mess up on is that they make it a pain to fit onto a wall with no cables showing. It's a pain because the PoE port is on a cable, that cable cant be wrapped up inside the camera housing because it takes up too much room, and to put the port through the wall you need to drill quite a large 22mm diameter hole even though once the port is through its just a 4mm wide cable going through the hole so it's a massive space to fill up. On more professional cameras like Axis or Bosch they'll have the port on the back of the camera itself so you feed your own cable to it through the wall using a small hole and then stick the connector on and plug it in. Even if they just made the built in cable shorter it would be fine. Only way to do it without drilling the large hole is to get a "back box" for the cable to go in but they add £30 and make the camera stick off the wall a lot.
