Good deal, but I'd prefer the Seagate Firecuda 530 over the 990 Pro.

Its about a fiver more than this deal (at box.co.uk)

Given the 990 Pro's issue with endurance, it's risky gambit.

There is no “issue with endurance” after the 3-month-old firmware fix is applied, which is also preinstalled on all drives manufactured since March. (edited)

Good deal if the drive is working as it should.

I think you just have to update the firmware? Atleast that's what all the Amazon comments were saying.

990 would of been king of castle if it wasn't A) Overpriced B) Filled with buggy firmware.

    I like others opt'd for SN850X & FIRECUDA 530. (edited)

The endurance bug was fixed 3 months ago, and the BL bug was fixed recently. How exactly does that make it “filled with buggy firmware” at this moment in time?

Even the SN850X you mention has had more firmware releases to fix issues, at least 3 IIRC:

Not as good as the £137.69 price they were 3 weeks ago but still not a bad price for the best nvme available atm.

wow im amused you rememberd the price and date

Be careful of these. Mines just failed after 2 months. Apparently a known issue so do some research first
    jjames87's avatar
The firmware issue or is this a different one? Anyway, there's alternative options now that are just as good such as the KC3000 and SN850x which are often cheaper.

Such a good drive copies data from one SSD to this in seconds

Can you update firmware on these if it's your boot drive ?
    charlie12's avatar
Yes - always backup anything important first, of course, and use the bootable ISO or Linux to update - not Magician in Windows. (edited)
