Intel Core i5-13600KF 14 Core 5.1GHz LGA 1700

info added by

Intel F-SKU CPUs do not have integrated graphics, and as such will require a separate graphics card to be included in your system.
If a graphics card is not included, the PC will not produce an output to a display.

Say hello to Raptor-Lake Intel's incredible 13th generation processors are hear to break the boundaries of modern day processing power. Now with up to 14 cores (6 Performance-cores and 8 Efficient-cores) and up to 20 threads, plus Performance-cores are capable of reaching 5.1 GHz with Intel® Thermal Velocity Boost to elevate performance. Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.07 further strengthens lightly threaded performance by identifying the best-performing Performance-cores. Meanwhile, additional E-cores enable an increase in Intel® Smart Cache (L3) for more efficient processing of larger data sets and better performance. The P-core and E-core L2 cache has also increased compared to the previous generation of Intel® processors, minimizing the amount of time spent swapping data between cache and memory to speed up your workflow.1 Unleash the power of next-level performance with the 13th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop processor advantage.

Features
- 5.1GHz Single P Core Max Clock / 3.5GHz Single P Core Base Clock
- 3.9GHz Single E Core Max Clock / 2.6GHz Single E Core Base Clock
- 20 CPU Lanes
- 24MB Cache Size

REVOLUTIONARY PERFORMANCE AND MULTITASKING
Intel’s new performance hybrid architecture will push your gameplay beyond performance and into your most immersive experience yet. Have the power to do it all!

Looks like a good deal. Cheapest I've seen this is £265

This K class CPU allows you to overclock the processor and the memory. Best suited to a Z690/Z790 Motherboard.

If your not interested in any overclocking, then the i5-13500/f is a very similar chip that also has a 6P/8E config. Having said that the 13500 is only about £30 cheaper so not alot in it.

I like to mess around with overclocking, so the 13600KF is a better choice for me, however I am currently running a used 12th Gen 12600KF (6P/4E) so no incentive to upgrade.

The only other thing to mention is the 13th gen chips use more power and run hotter than 12th gen, so it's likely you will need a decent cooler From the data I've seen the 13th gen is faster than 12th gen, but 12th gen is more efficient and can be picked up used for exceptional value.

If buying new, on the Intel side of things, the 13600KF is a high end gaming CPU and a mid range productivity CPU that will handle most tasks with little effort.

If your on a budget and wanting an Intel LGA1700 platform then look at a used 12100f)12400f CPU instead, as these can be had between £80-£130 and are surprisingly powerful budget options. (edited)

Will second the point on cooling solution - got it paired with a 280mm arctic radiator and despite repasting it twice it still hits thermal on benchmarks after a few weeks of initial application on stock settings. Not a concern for gaming as it does not run at full power for long periods and doesn't reach temperatures beyond 80, but just something to bear in mind if worried about it getting hot.

I wouldn't. It's a saving of only £20 against the 13600K with the working iGPU, and even if you don't plan on using the iGPU, it's a small price to pay for the benefit of having a backup option for if/when your dGPU fails.

If you have a spare GPU it's literally pointless. (edited)

Blimey, 14 cores for under £300. I remember buying the 5820K for more than this, and that was a 6 core Haswell-E. Well done AMD.
    Cockasaurus's avatar
As far as gaming goes it's a 6 core. All that's really needed tho for any GPU up to £900

It's a good deal and and I voted hot. I was going to buy one of these, but I've been waiting so long for the price to come down I think I'm going to wait a bit longer and get an i7-13700K instead.

If you wait another 6 months you might as well buy the Raptor lake Refresh coming later this year...

This is an excellent gaming CPU and this is a cracking price. I wouldn't worry about the lack of iGPU. One thing to check is if putting in a Z690 mobo is that the bios has been updated to take 13th gen. (edited)

If you need a cooler, grab one of these for £40 -
    amazon.co.uk/The…8-3

Unbeatable for the price, in fact unbeatable even if you spent double!
It performs a little better than the PA120 that is much loved, the PA is now the same price as this (The PA120 was £35 until recently) so may as well go with this. (edited)

I literally just finished a build for a young content-creator based around an i5-13500 and despite me asking him to get a massive Noctua Tower he went and bought the same Thermalright tower as you linked above. I think it's the same but his fans were ARGB.

Anyway it really struggled to keep the i5-13500 under 100c while running Prime95 and cine bench. And this is during the modest temps of May. Come summer it's throttle city.

I think the more powerful i5-13600KF wouldn't reach its MHz potential being cooked by that Thermalright heatsink, and forget about overclocking.

13th Gen is hot. It's basically an overclocked/overvolted power hungry 12th Gen chip with a bunch of e-cores thrown in for good measure.

I'm returning to the young streamers build in a week to check on the system. I likely will repaste and reseat the Thermalright cooler just to rule out an imperfect fitting.

Id say a good 280mm AIO or a massive Noctua Tower in a great air cooled case is what somebody would need to let the i5-13600KF fly...

Great price for this from Amazon France a few weeks ago for 15 less but handy to get it from a uk retailer, excellent cpu
  8. jextwah's avatar
Does this come retail sealed? AWD-IT / seem to have a habit of selling stuff that has been “tested and configured” by their engineers. In reality they probably bin the chips for their prebuilds / oc and stick the duds for sale.

I might be way off here, but I know that’s often the case with their mobo/cpu bundles which come with the cpu installed for you

Excellent cpu. Only slightly worse than a 5800x3d for gaming. (edited)
    Big.Wayne's avatar
I don't think that's an uncommon view, the more expensive CPU is faster than the cheaper CPU. When you look at enough data you start to wonder if the 5800X3D is faster than a 13600K in gaming. In the games where most of the important assets can fit into that massive level 3 cache then the 5800X3D really does well, but in other games, it gets slapped up by the newer Intel 13th Gen.

    Steve's data below from a 12-game average shows an i5-13600K matching a 5800X3D at 1080p, being behind 3FPS @ 1440p and 2FPS faster @ 4K.

    50206474-2fWvr.jpg
Then if we look at the bigger picture including productivity, outside of a pure gaming PC, we see how ordinary the 5800X3D is. It's not a stretch to say Gamers could find this multicore performance useful once they begin recording and editing their gameplay for uploads.

The cheaper i5-13600K/F is an underrated chip. 5800X3D is a beautiful chip for AM4 1080p gamers, but I can't see anyone choosing it for a brand-new build. (edited)
