Brilliant phone. I bought mine as a Like New off Amazon Warehouse for about £130 18 months ago and it's been rock solid.

If you don't need the bells and whistles it's a perfectly serviceable phone. I'm a same day courier, so it goes everywhere with me, acting as a personal wifi hotspot for the kit in the van, for the apps I use which require customer sigs and photos, dual SIM action, both available for 5G (some sites I visit have no 3 coverage, so the 99p back up Lebara SIM does the heavy lifting in those cases).

I live right on top of a 5G mast from 3, and easily get 1.5GB download speeds.

For a budget back up or even a day to day phone cannot recommend it enough. Updated to Android 13 recently too.

Battery life easily sees you through a day, and charges quickly

Got a Reno8 Pro with Quidco, thanks OP. Going to see how it compares to my POCO F3.

After using it for a few days I'm going to return it. Overall the phone just can't match my POCO F3, the only thing that is better is the camera, which is excellent in low light, but I had too many issues with it otherwise:

Notifications - The status bar (top of the screen) kept going blank, and would not display notification icons consistently. Rebooting the phone brought them back for a bit, but it would stop displaying them again after a few hours.

Screen: Very similar screen to the POCO F3, but the colour cast is far too blue, even when set to the warmest available colour. Eye comfort mode helped with this, but made some colours look odd, and affected peak brightness.

Fingerprint sensor: The optical sensor kept failing to light up to read my fingerprint. It would display the animation but not light up the area correctly, so it keeps failing to get a reading. Turning display off and on fixes it for a bit, but it was happening far too regularly. Much prefer the side fingerprint reader of the POCO, which has never failed.

Heat when in use: Mine had slowed to a crawl a couple of times, with obvious heating towards the top of the handset when this happened. It also displayed "phone too hot" when trying to launch some of the features.

Looks like I'll be keeping the F3 for another year, unless the F5 gets anywhere close to £200. (edited)

Good deal but no stereo speakers. Spend little more (£165 Grade B) and get Xiaomi 11 Lite 5g NE. (edited)

Cheers OP. Spotted the Oppo A54, but didn't see this one.
Gone for the Oppo Reno8 Lite 5G.
Been literally skulking mobile phone offers on hotukd for almost a year and had enough. This will do especially if Quidco cashback goes through.

Thanks OP, went for a Reno8 lite. Been looking for a sub £150 5g phone for my dad. Seems a great price, if Quidco tracks it’s an absolute steal.

Reno 8 Lite is a bargain at this price
Been getting lots of updates on mine

Same, had mine for little over 2 weeks and had 2 updates so far. Battery seems to be pretty good and the camera takes some good shots. Looking to see if there's a GCam port that works with this handset though, any ideas?

Thanks , ordered for my Son! Nice one!

Wow that's a brilliant price for the Reno 8 Pro...
Im really impressed with mine, the build quality is excellent, lovely screen, takes great photos and the processor is very quick.
This phone was over £500 brand new, not so many months ago.

I want to buy the oppo a54 5g, I have logged in using my Giffgaff username and password but I'm not currently with Giffgaff, it's asking me to buy a top up and I don't want to, is there a way around this? I wanted to pay the £89
    deleted2904940's avatar
No you need to spend at least £10 on a top up.

This initial goodybag isn't refundable and you can only cancel it by returning the phone itself with the SIM card unused. (edited)

Is this phone locked to Giffgaff?
    deleted2904940's avatar
No phones can be locked any more in the UK. You just need to cancel your SIM package if you don't want to make recurring payments.
  16. jeti9's avatar
If you are already with giff gaff,
Do you still need to buy a top up?

How long is delivery on these?
    njdavis103's avatar
All our phones are delivered the next business day with free delivery. Just order anytime before midnight. You've got 21 days to return both new and refurbished phones for any reason. Even if you've just changed your mind.

Reno 8 came next day, perfect condition and easy set up. Quidco showing £37.50 tracked; really happy. Am chasing with GiffGaff as they didn’t sent an invoice via email.

Is there anyway around the having to buy the £10 sim? (edited)
    YouAreTheSheeple's avatar
Unless your with GG already, no way around it.

Just use it for the month and make sure to cancel the recurring payment.

With the cashback really nothing touching for value, went for the Reno8 lite myself.
  23. jkl47's avatar
I bought the Honor magic 5 lite for £220 a week ago. They look pretty similar on paper. Let's see if this is worth keeping
  24. asificus's avatar
The topcashback for Giffgaff phone the terms say 'Purchase a phone and activate your SIM' s within 30 days' so what if you are cancelling the future goodybag top ups.I think this goes for Quidco too.
  25. deleted2904940's avatar
There doesn't seem to be any recurring payments set up on my Giffgaff account. I haven't used the SIM they sent with the phone as I have no need for it

I've messaged their support to make sure I'm not going to get hit next month, will report back what they tell me
  26. HighlandScot's avatar
Can I get separate TCB cashback separately for two separate orders?
  27. asificus's avatar
Oh I actually activated the SIM before cancelling future top ups, make use of the first monthish. Thought it might help with the TCB cashback.
  28. deleted2904940's avatar
I just found out that if you don't activate the SIM there is no need to cancel.
    jkl47's avatar
Do I need to activate it for TCB?
  29. asificus's avatar
Thanks oh well,(still have to pay for the initial £10 goody bag), let's hope topcashback pays out. (edited)
    deleted2904940's avatar
Yeah that was always non-refundable. Great phone for the price regardless.
