The only people this CPU is relevant to is those on the AM4 platform already. AMD won't be releasing any more 5xxx/AM4 series CPUs.

For anyone considering the 5800X3D as an upgrade to their existing pltform, spending £3-400 more on a slightly better CPU together with the required new motherboard and RAM would be significantly worse value than this drop-in upgrade. (edited)

Is it worth upgrading to this from a 5800x ?

If you play games at 1440p or more, no.

Depends on the games you play and resolution. If you’re gpu is the bottleneck in games you won’t see improvement

Be careful buying from sellers on Amazon even if they’re sent from Amazon directly. I bought a 7 5800x3D from the previous post and came DOA despite being sealed up. Now fighting to try get my money back!

Good point. I bought this at £300 earlier in the year - what was delivered was a set of 4 coasters!! Took nearly 2 weeks for amazon to refund me - which thankfully they did, and gave me £20 credit for the hassles.

Put me off buying another at the time. But as its my bday tomoz and usually get amazon vouchers from various people, i'lm looking to pull the trigger, again!! Think i'd only trust a Prime purchase, and hope for better luck this time. I game on ACC and MSFS2020, so this should help with VR over my current 5600x/3080 (edited)
