The "extra long" battery life of 36 hours normal use is an absolute deal-breaker. Why is this such a power hungry monster?
    neilly93's avatar
It depends on use. I charged mine this morning after 60 hours. If you’re using GPS for workouts or streaming audio for example, it uses the battery faster of course, but the battery is a lot, lot better than the standard model.

I got it at this price earlier this year as an upgrade from Series 3. Really pleased with it.

As a runner (mainly trails so it can sometimes be easy to get lost!) who has an Apple watch 6 I really like the idea of the Apple Watch Ultra for durability and longer battery.
...however maps whilst running on the Apple watch is just not possible (tell me if I'm wrong).
My brain tells me to go for a Garmin that can easily use GPX map files and show you if going off course etc.. but I know for daily use I'd prefer the Apple watch (since it works great in the Apple Eco system etc)

...is there a better way with an Apple watch? specifically the ultra - I can't find out if it can easily import GPX files for me to use on the go.... if it does then I'll bite

Sounds like you need a Garmin Fenix 6/7 Pro

    Aren’t all Ultras 49mm?

    I don’t think there’s a “small” Ultra.

It’s as if he oblivious to the people that spend 100k on patek and Rolex watches which don’t do much….

I’ve had loads of android phones and a few iPhones. I prefer iPhones, so this idea that I’m being ‘done’ every time I buy an Apple product is moot. They make a quality product and I’m prepared to pay for it

Been this price for at least 6 months

Apparently there’ll be an update to the ultra this summer , so I’d hold out

good to see this price back again...was wondering if this would happen with the rumours of a Gen2 sometime later this year
    plewis00's avatar
It's possible it will be a bit of a nothing watch like the Series 7 to 8 in which case it'll still be a great buy for those who want it.

what is the android equivalent of an apple watch?
    buddn07's avatar
Pixel Watch. There isn’t an equivalent of the Apple Watch Ultra though.

It’s been this price in the Manchester (Trafford Park) branch for at least 6 months but still a good deal.

I’m exercising restraint with Prime Day coming in a couple of weeks… Then splurge time 😁

I have big wrist but found this too big, got the stainless steel graphite series 8 instead, looks much better.

If you want a bargain wish and Temu have bracelets and bezel covers for a normal Apple Watch so they look like an ultra.

Isn't this like slapping a Ferrari badge on your Ford
In fairness, I have seen some of the conversion kits and they do look pretty good in the photos.

I have one, pay mine monthly on contract. I wear it mostly for the heart rate reader and fall detection due to having a disability. I can confirm the fall detection works and the heart rate monitor shows the same as the hospital machines. Apart from that it’s a nice watch, handy for me to answer calls when I can’t hold a phone and the battery life is a lot better then my previous series 7 (ultra gets 36hrs)

A friend just had a triple bypass after asking his doctor to look at his watch results.

Out of stock and deal is only for the small
    plewis00's avatar
I noticed it was only for the small, that does seem a bit cheeky as I imagine for a large watch as this, most will want medium or large, but it's an easy enough fix.

Great watch especially for outdoor activities/pursuits etc. Would suggest buying and swapping strap if orange is not your taste. Still works out cheaper. My memory do some good deals on official straps. Charge in mine is lasting around 48 hours use but never take it off so is constantly active. Bought a protective cover but to be honest the watch is rock solid so didn’t need to use it.

Holding out to see if a new one is announced and the price drops further on this model… but very tempting, on a S3 at the mo (edited)
  27. James_Whitchurch's avatar
Men wear watches, as it's really the only item of jewellery. That is deemed as acceptable. I have around 20 and often wear a different one most days. All of my watches, except one. Cost under £300.

I like apple products, but this is the only one I find very garish, If you are a deepsea diver then i kind of get it but i suspect that there are already much better watches for that out there, unless you must dive nad have an apple watch.. but otherwise I see people in the office with these all the time and they just look stupid on their wrists for telling the time and step counting.. a standard apple watch on the other hand is very sleek and hidden.. these scream look at me. Had a look at these in store last week, prefer the size of this compared to my series 5 which is a bit a small on my wrist. But can’t justify the money to replace it, or on something which will need dismantling to change the battery in a few years.

Got an ultra converter case instead. This was the best price I’ve seen these for though, tempted for a few minutes!

Wait a few months and there will be deals from resellers for this model. I would pay £400 max for this.
