Just making sure everyone is aware that all of Red Dwarf (well, nearly all of it) was recently added to BBC iPlayer. (edited)

    Missing season 9?

Not watched past the original 8 seasons so not sure what the situation is.

Just a note this doesn't include the later Dave series.

    Great news

Depending on whether this is an early production run, there may be some interlacing issues with a couple of discs. If you Google about it, you should find a BBC email address where you can send proof of purchase, and they'll send you out replacement discs.

Series 1 - 6 are classic Red Dwarf. Seasons 7 and 8 were subpar with some excruciatingly bad episodes, I haven't watched the specials and the later seasons. There's a large amount of cheese in most of the seasons but that is part of the charm of Red Dwarf, some of the writing and plots are at times genius level Sci-Fi. At its peak it really was premium Sci-Fi even though it's a comedy space sit-com.

I haven't watched Red Dwarf in a long time, when it was at the height of its power I was a teenager so I feel like it might not live up to expectations watching it again. (edited)

All those uses of "season" for a classic British show.

But yes, series 1 to 6 are the best by far

good show for the 8 season then just lost any charm that made ot plus used to much bad cgi in newer ones was nice when was practical

I think series 7 is the weakest of the lot, including the newer series.

Awesome, disappointed at the series 9 Dave episodes but charm and comedy instantly returned series 10+ (edited)

It is just me triggered by the use of "season" for a British TV show?

    Probably just me

Has this been upscaled / remastered or is it just the original SD stuff on Blu-ray?
    adamguest1985's avatar
Amazon reviews seem to suggest there's been some upscaling, but remains original aspect ratios. Won't be amazing on the first few series, certainly.

Its great there are still so many Red Dwarf fans out there….. i love the show…… after randomly and on the off chance seeing….. “lager, the only thing that can kill a vindaloo” I was hooked….

have to say my favourite episodes are Back to reality, dimension jump (just for the introduction of Ace Rimmer) and gunmen of the apocalypse…. Feel free to post yours as i love the nostalgia

Basically every episode till series 7 happened! I can watch the first 36 a million times and still laugh out loud every time!

For me, Marooned is one of the best, it got back to its roots as a situation comedy of two blokes trapped together and it relied on good writing alone rather than just the use of 'monsters'.

Thanks for the Memories is another just great how it all fits together.

Have you guys read the books? Also very good.
Story similarities, but somehow better told in book form.
