Mediterranean is a big lottery this summer. Good luck. If you go, stay at least on the continent, so you can escape easier, like France, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Turkey. Not on an island. (edited)

Greece, not quite the place to go at the moment... wildfires causing havoc.

We live 30km from here - we have no fires at the moment

I’ve been going to Greece for years, fires are common. Granted the fires affecting Rhodes are bad but it doesn’t mean all islands will face the same. Kefalonia have closed their national park to avoid any further risks to fires starting. Rhodes is by far the hottest Greek island I’ve visited, it’s barren landscape bears testament to it’s climate.

Should you be offering deals to Greece..?
    John_Abraham's avatar
why because there is a media frenzy about wild fires which happen every year?

Out of interest how do you find deals like this. There are so many variables when looking for a holiday, i'm intrigued to learn your method of searching?

If you can go within a month, go last minute on tui website and just choose what you need, destination, board, airprot and sort by cheapest

We stayed in a very similar apartment place on Kefalonia last year. It's a beautiful island and well worth hiring a car from a local company. Can't be bothered looking myself, but well worth looking at what it would cost to do this DIY with TUI flights and local car hire. Avoid the transfer coach and basically get a locally hired car for the week at the same cost so you can explore some of the amazing places it has to offer.

Expect to pay approximately €450 for a weeks car hire. Lassi is very much a tourist resort but a good base to visit the quieter parts of the island. In August it gets very busy with visitors from Athens escaping the heat.

I doubt if you could give them away now.

I find Greece to be quite expensive to get to n the rooms in general are like something from the 1940's

The trick is to go in June.

Daughter in Rhodes at mo and has had a power cut and a few water issues. The wildfires are at other end of island. There is no panic by locals where she is.
However, I know some people that have been evacuated who have had a different experience.
I do think there is a lot of media hype but on the other hand it’s better to be safe than sorry.

When I booked Fuerteventura for next week back at the beginning of the year, my wife questioned if it would be warm enough. She's bloody happy I didn't book Greece now! I was purposely trying to avoid high heat. Canaries are always a safe bet.

This is going to get hot 🔥

Voted cold, not all inclusive . I refuse to cook or pay for food on holiday, it’s not fun forking put €150-200 per day, puts a dampener on the whole holiday.
    KC30's avatar
how can you vote cold because it doesnt suit YOUR taste? Its either a deal or its not??
  14. ketchutd's avatar

Fires in Greece is a big concern at the moment.
  17. Sheldontheduck's avatar
John, because there are already families stranded to come home as you have read and heard on media frenzy but likely to be true and also due to the lack of facilities to cope with an increased number of tourists requiring temp accommodations, so let's encourage more to pile up "how are that helpful" enticing more people to go and create more backlogs and then we cry out ' Home office' not doing enough to bring families back.
    debschillen0704's avatar
Airlines still flying people out to Greece
