I had to deal with this seller in the past (and actually had to report him to eBay). Sold me an opened - never used Surface Book which turned out to be heavily used (with damages around the screen as it has been clearly taken apart - and a lot of battery cycles). The seller was a nightmare to deal with as he was convinced that the Surface Book was never used (I had to send him photos three times in a row) and denied any wrongdoing He then used one of his other accounts (he admitted it was him) to buy something from me on eBay and left me a negative feedback

Saying that this seems like a good deal for a surface book and you know what you can expect as its been used (edited)

I never used this seller before but have seen this exact listing and almost bought from them in the past (but the 8th Gen Book 2) and decided I didn’t need it. That is disgraceful behaviour from a seller toward you… this is why I have a separate account for purchases in case someone tries to abuse something.

Not sure if anyone knows but my dad is losing his eyesight and on the ipad sky no longer let you zoom it. Does this work like a lablet and would be be able to watch sky sports zoomed in

It is a Windows PC. Anything you can do on Windows you'd do on this.

But the battery life for the screen detached from the keyboard is very short the main battery is in the keyboard.

Too shame the memory modules are soldered. Good price.

Even if they weren't you'd probably break the screen getting to them. With these devices I think you have to accept them as they are rather than look to future upgradability. I think Microsoft have pivoted back to repairability now.
I feel that soldered RAM is more acceptable on these devices than regular laptops

It's worth noting the performance base comes with a Nvidia 965m graphics card. Which was the high end option. Also, 6th gen Intel does not officially support Windows 11. Good price if it's in nice condition. This is a premium product, rather have of these than a brand new machine with a crappy celeron processor.
    OB1's avatar
This one doesn't seem to have that graphics card though?

The photos of the on-screen device specs show Windows 10 Pro - why have they written Windows 11 Pro?

    Seller notes
“Windows 11 Pro installed. If requested Windows 10 Pro can be installed.

I had one of these for a while from a deal on here. It's a lovely big tablet and an impressive screen for this money but I ended up going back to a surface pro as I liked the kick stand

Currently using an i3 - 7th Gen @ 2.3GHZ for work. Office etc and the companies programs via a Virtual Desktop is pretty much what I use it for. Not the best but not the worst really. Upgraded the Ram to 12GB also.

Tempted to get this for portability (as I travel quite a bit) and just wanted to upgrade to an i5.

Thoughts on whether this would run better than what I currently have?
    plewis00's avatar
i3 7th Gen to i5 6th Gen is arguably not an upgrade, a side grade at best perhaps. Get an 8th Gen i5 in a normal form factor for a similar price for vastly improved performance.

I've never played it but looking at the system requirements this should run rings around Roblox

This is a value for money price for some decent hardware and a great touchscreen on this laptop.

While Microsoft will not support older intel processors for windows 11 and future OS's, if you use any flavour of Linux, this should be more than useful for all your productivity needs for years to come.

And as someone else mentioned, this would happily play Roblox and Minecraft on windows 10.

Looks good but Windows 11 on a 6th generation? anyone any experience with this, will feature updates fail?
    awoodhall2003's avatar
I had the SP4 on a 6th gen i7 and upgraded to W11 in the very early days and it had issues, but as soon as the official release came out it worked perfectly. So should be the same now, and as this is a very similar device.
  11. W9ndy's avatar
Hi does anyone know if this would be good for my daughter who likes to play Roblox?
    DanoVan's avatar
If it’s just for gaming I’d say get a cheap xbox series s Roblox is free to play and get a controller but you may already know that just thought may help

The main problem will be the built in battery, but this gen of CPUs is really too old without a dedicated GPU. Got one of them downstairs and it struggles playing Youtube videos that old iGPU is so bad and that is only a 900p screen on that thing.
    BaelinTheFisherman's avatar
    it's 3k x 2k res, how is it 900p?
  13. Jarosik's avatar
There's a reason these are cheap.
  14. general_holding's avatar
they should make a new version this with Windows on ARM.
    fishmaster's avatar
"Microsoft offers its new Surface Pro 9 now also with an ARM processor, which brings some advantages such as integrated 5G connectivity and fanless operation. On the other hand, the performance also turns out significantly worse than that of the Intel version, despite the higher price"

    They've increased the price.
  16. Godman's avatar
Now the price has been increased by 10 pounds
    It is £139.00 + £9.99 postage

Am I the only one thinking this would make a great cheap Chromebook with Chrome OS Flex on it?
    dheydl's avatar
As long as the hardware is supported. I am using my still very capable Toshiba Chromebook on Flex and sound has never worked since I moved off ChromeOS.
  18. safsulsam's avatar
price has changed so deal has ended
    Ashe's avatar
Yes. Doesn't seem right to me that the deal can be amended to a higher price whilst keeping the heat from people voting when it was a lower price.
  19. cannibalwombat's avatar
Oh how I used to covet the Book 2 15" with the GTX 1060. Thought it was such a cool form factor. Could never afford it though.

It's a good price, but no way I'd get this one now. With a seven-generations-old mid-tier CPU and 2133MHz RAM, I think it would be a chore to use. Let alone the sheer age and use of the hardware. (edited)
    Sp0oner's avatar
I was the same thought this with a 1060 at the time would have been great never did buy one though and now have an Asus Z13 with 3050ti which is a superb bit of kit.

That cpu is going to be painful.

    Thoroughly avoid.
    Suggs84's avatar
lmao it's £137. it'll run absolute laps around anything else at that price!
  23. garrafk's avatar
I personally hate Microsoft Surface anything
I have dealt with many over the years and they have all been terrible performance considering the spec and terrible reliability.
  24. thel33ter's avatar
I have had one of these for years. Excellent laptops, but the battery on mine is pretty much junk now, particularly the one in the display. Gets maybe an hour or two of use away from the wall. Can't imagine others of the same age would be much better. Shame they aren't more serviceable.
    OB1's avatar
How long do you get with the screen alone?
  25. SartoriX's avatar
Looks a decent bit of kit for the money, shame the price has gone up, that's a bit irritating.
  26. DazLFC's avatar
How good is the repair on these?
    plewis00's avatar
0/10 from iFixit. If it breaks, chuck it in the bin and it is so complex, many things can go wrong.
  27. ben.chan's avatar
Try to get a second-hand pro 5 rather than this pro 4. Battery capacity is ~50% more.
  28. umirza85's avatar
This is perfect to replace that pile of acer/Lenovo laptops sitting in a corner for those days I need a windows laptop to do something minor.
  29. DDTTAA's avatar
How is this compared to a Used Surface 5 pro currently at £134?
    myOpinion2's avatar
    Author
About the same when you add in the keyboard (unless you already have one or don't intend to use one)
The surface book has a bigger screen and a more stable base when using it on your lap
The surface pro is a decent amount lighter overall but the tablet portion is actually a few grams heavier
I don't like the way the kickstand on the pro digs in to your leg when using it on your lap so am curious to try one of these. Also there is an additional USB port on this
  30. Blasphemous's avatar
There's a canny size dent in the one shown in the listing so I assume 'condition' ain't gonna be great on these.
