Dash cam

Hi Guys,

I’d like to get a Dash cam that runs whilst the engine is off, but I have absolutely no idea where to start.

It’s a mine field!

Any recommendations?

TIA

Look for dash cams that have a "parking mode".

I remember seeing a feature on Tomorrows world about a Japanese traffic camera that continuously recorded - what made it "special" was it recorded over the footage if it didn't detect a crash - that way it would have footage of the accident a few minutes before it happened. I have been trying to find a dash cam with a similar feature ever since - you think it would be a feature they heavily advertise!

Momento dash cams do this exact thing - they continuously record using a 15 second buffer - that way you get footage 15 seconds before the event occurred.

I just bought one of these amazon.co.uk/dp/…ils quite impressed with it as it's the upgraded version and works well with the app, you can buy the hard wire kit for it to run continuously on amazon for 20 quid or Aliexpress if you don't mind waiting for under a fiver

You'll need to buy a little power supply thing to keep it going otherwise it would drain your battery.
Mine goes into the fuse box joint to my cigarette lighter socket.
The majority of people will just have theirs run off the key when they start.
The dashcam should have an impact sensor, so starts recording soon as somebody hits you, or even a loud boy racer car going past picks mine up
