Nothing says middle class like a Waitrose scalextric racing car.

For those interested, I was in morrisons in Lowestoft earlier and saw a set from £90 to £28. I didnt think anything of it and they only had two but good luck if you see them! Was in the xmas clearance stuff thinking i shouldve got them now lol

Heat added - that's a fantastic deal! Just ordered one of these sets for my son and keeping it back for either his birthday or next Christmas

This looks like a great price for 2 cars and some track. Certainly cheaper than buying cars and track separately if looking to extend an existing set.

Scalextric have some great looking mock cars these days. I grew up with a crappy Grand Prix set and they handled terribly.

I thought these were mock-ups too but looks like they're based on Ginetta LeMans cars. Looks nice for impact resistant cars. Much friendlier for triggor happy kids. (edited)

whereas some of us grew up with the Vanwall Grand Prix (Maidenhead Peter Collins/Mike Hawthorn/Stirling Moss) early 60's Scalextric - competing whilst The Beatles were spinning latest release on turntable. Be interesting to see how the quality is when my order arrives compared to the original set.

Is there much point building a micro scaletrix setup when you could get the full sized setup instead?
