*we know how important it is to buy a dehumidifier that benefits your home without increasing your energy bills, that is why we have created Arete to be the most energy efficient range of dehumidifiers, find out more here.

The new Arete range of dehumidifiers is the result of five years of development by our British design team, using feedback from more than 2000 customers who contributed to the design process.

Arete is the Greek Goddess of Excellence in all things and, with this range of dehumidifiers, this is exactly what we have achieved. The attention to detail has been exhaustive as we perfected every interaction between the user and the dehumidifier.

The end result is our quietest, most energy efficient dehumidifier range yet, with a host of special features to make living with Arete a pleasure.

Rated a Which? Best Buy, Arete is the perfect solution to dealing with condensation, mould and damp problems either in the home, in a garage, in an unheated basement, on a boat or in a caravan.

An appliance or part of your home?

Customers tell us that they never put their dehumidifiers away. In fact, they stay in the same area of the home all the time. So we have designed Arete to be stylish so that it looks great wherever you put it. It sits flush to the wall, has hidden castors and an air purification mode means you can use it all year round too.

Dehumidifiers should be seen and not heard

We discovered that lots of people site their dehumidifier close to the bedroom. So it became obvious that noise is a very important factor. The huge success of the Meaco ABC range of very quiet dehumidifiers proved how important it is to you that your unit is quiet. Could we make Arete any quieter without compromising some other important design ideals? It took 18 months of testing to produce the quietest large dehumidifiers we have ever made. At 40dB this dehumidifier is twice as quiet as the industry standard.

Removing clutter and confusion

The control panel on Arete One has simple and clearly laid out controls. The buttons that you use most often are larger; the buttons that you hardly ever use are small. Large buttons include controls for Smart Humidity Control and Smart Laundry either of which can be set by pressing just one button.

Winner of the T3 Platinum Award.

A Night Mode that really lets you sleep

On many devices when you select a night mode or a sleep mode they leave a light on to indicate that it is in the mode or they forget to turn off the bleeps so a press of a button is accompanied by an annoying noise.

Not on Arete. select Night Mode and every light is turned off; the fan speed drops to the quiet low mode and there will be no bleeps. You can check the humidity levels in Night Mode quickly and quietly. And even better, little-ones’ fingers won’t accidentally take you out of this quiet mode because it takes two confirming touches to change the machine back to normal.

We feel that the Night Mode is not just for night time but anytime when you want the dehumidifier to be as quiet as possible.

It is all in the flow

Emptying the water tank is the most common action that dehumidifier owners need to do. So it was important to make sure that Arete’s large 4.8 litre tank was easy to access and empty.

We looked at how customers removed tanks, where they put their fingers and how they balanced the tank. That heavily influenced Arete’s design, which has two very large slots left and right of the machine that your fingers naturally drop into. This allows perfect purchase on the tank so you can pull it out smoothly, and place it on the floor so you can lift it by the integrated handle.

And there’s a simple but clever solution for pouring out the water. With Arete there are two spouts: one to the left and one to the right. So you can pour the water away without having to juggle or twist the tank.

And continuous drainage...

We have not included a free hose in our dehumidifiers for a few years now because more than 90% of users told us that they do not use them, so they just end up in landfill. Our aim is to reduce plastic waste, so we changed the way we do things.

To make things easier, Arete comes with a hose adapter to allow you to use a standard garden hose for continuous drainage if you need it.

This reduces plastic waste and gives you the flexibility to use the unit in the best way for you.

Clean, clean air

All Arete One dehumidifiers come with a medical grade H13 HEPA filter which is 75% larger than the filter on our popular Low Energy models. It can be used to clean the air during dehumidification and as a stand-alone air purifier throughout the spring and summer months.

Our best dehumidifier ever by far

For us, the most important thing about Arete is that is has been designed by collaboration with our customers. We have listened and learned, and all of that new knowledge is in the details that make Arete so special. Optimised for your life and the British weather.

We think Arete is the best dehumidifier range we have ever produced. We’re looking forward to hearing what you think!

The choice is up to you!

Every Arete® dehumidifier comes with a free H13 HEPA filter so you can see first hand just how good it is. If you want to always have cleaner, fresher air in your home this filter will have to be replaced roughly every 3 months. This filter can be replaced with either another H13 HEPA filter or an active charcoal filter, the choice is up to you! Both filters do different jobs so click on the products linked above and see which type of filter suits your needs better. If you can't make your mind up, you can use both types of filters and swap them around whenever you want to.

One technique mentioned by a guy from Meaco for drying clothes is to use a dehumidifier with a fan. Put the clothes on a clothes horse, a fan at one end to circulate the air and the dehumidifier at the other end of the clothes horse. Supposed to improve efficiency by up to 30%. When I tried it it did appear to dry things faster

We sometimes run ours with the dri buddi running at the same time - can't give numbers but the overall drying time is halved at least

Does anyone know If you left one of these on 24/7 aproximately how much does this cost to run per day?

I purchased an electric iq 20l dehumidifier from appliance direct it was £170 and has an air purifier with UV filter built in. Absolutely amazing how much water it pulls out of the house.

Ive had nothing but problems with Meaco dehumidifiers  they never last more than 12 months and Meaco charge you to return it back to them , also customers service is bad and you have to fill out endles forms with them to even be able to return it , I recently switched to ebac one and its brilliant, also Meaco seem to lie on coverage as they said it was for. 3-4 bedroom house but it struggled doing just upstairs! Now with my new ebac one it can do all our house upstairs and down with no problems, Bear this in mind

What Ebac did you go for?

HAd the 25l for 3 weeks now on 24/7 and the house is much warmer and also feels alot dryer great investment for any household

I bought the 25l on a recent HUKD offer and I can safely say it’s been a real worthwhile investment, it keeps our upstairs windows all free from condensation now, the house “feels” warmer and drying clothes indoors is a lot less of a hassle, can thoroughly recommend a dehumidifier for anyone in the UK..
Meaco appears to be a well respected Brand in this space, only time will tell if ours has longevity, but looking at the build quality from a layman’s perspective, I’m very hopeful! 🏻

Same here, also have the 25L its been a very good investment

Got the 10l one about two weeks ago, can say like other posters it really has made my house feel different, upstairs where it's based anyway. feels warmer and it's sucking out so much water.
going to get another one for downstairs when it comes back in stock.

I've used this in a 3 bed house. Not on 24/7... It's good but if you have serious humidity issues you would still need multiple of these. Also, the clothes drying options could be better if it didnt just blow the air up in the air (some dehumidifers for cheaper have a fan the moves up and down which speeds the drying whereas this one doesn't). But the product looks good, it's not loud but it's not quiet (you probably don't want to sleep with it on if its in your bedroom)

I have just brought the 12l one and it's great and getting moisture out of the air
    Pusa's avatar
You just bought! How do you know it's great? I mean have you actually used it?
  11. hotukbeard's avatar
Ahh sod it, time to stop waiting for it to drop in price.

I'm going through airconcentre, couple of quid more (although also 1.8% Quidco (£4.59)) but they offer 4 months on tick 0%. (edited)

Just ordered tracked straight away on TCB for once

I just hope that it’s a lot better than the 12l , mine just doesn’t meet the target that I set it to. Spoke to Meaco customer support and they said just leave it on continuous that sort of defeats the object of Smart Control!

Probably undersized or just bad humidity issuss
  14. Gerry557's avatar
@PusaI have this one and a set of sensors so can measure the results.

    It definitely reduces the humidity.

The only negative I can really see it despite it being twice as quiet as others it's too noisy for bedroom and sleeping, for me anyway.

It's in the hall now but does the whole house if you leave doors open or selected rooms if you close em

Anyone know when the new one is out it does say 2023 on their website

Still two days left according to them

Had the 20L for more than a year and it is great.
Tip for drying clothes - Hang clothes on airer / clothes horse and create a tent cover with a double/king bedsheet.
Position the Meaco so that it is blowing air into the "tent" making sure that the dehumidfier air inlet is not covered by the sheet.
    L0L's avatar
Aren't you lowering the affect of a dehumidifier by having the inlet outside of the clothes you are drying?

You are just having the clothes blown with dry/warmer air. Rather than letting the unit suck in the moist air too. (edited)

Can anyone please advise on Smartmeters. Are they worth installing and if so who should I switch to for energy provider?

Where did you guys read about the new version coming out soon? Couldn't find anything on their website except an article about the new models but that takes me to the current Arete range.

Where do you see the possible £249.07 cashback on TCB? Looked on the app and it says 3.4% for Meaco retailer?
  21. hotukbeard's avatar
So I got this delivered the other day.

So far I'm impressed. It's already sucked out 4 litres and it's much quieter than I expected ( the dehumidify option on the portable air-con I bought last year sounds like a jet taking off). I slept last night without ear plugs (I normally do because I work nights) and I could barely hear it outside my bedroom door in the hallway (sat 30cm away from the door)

What setting does everyone have theirs on, I've got it set to 50, is it worth going lower?
