Fire TV or Google TV

Can I throw out a third option and suggest Roku? I personally think it's the easiest to use with minimal clutter and hassle. Still has all the apps you would expect unless you want to go down the route of sideloading something unofficial on there. Very quick and responsive, and remains so for years to come - While the Android based Google TV and Fire TV seem to slow down over time in my experience.

If it had to be between the two specific devices you are asking about though, my vote would go to the Chromecast.

It is a personal thing and unless you use both (or all 3 if you include Roku) you will never know.

I have all 3 and would prefer Chromecast/Google TV by quite a margin. I much prefer the layout and how it functions. Seems clean to me and easy to navigate. I don't know how many Firesticks I have lying in drawers now

get the firestick 4k, if you want to sideload

Wait for the deals and then Firestick 4k max. Brilliant device.

Another vote for Roku. I had the firestick, and was really glad I switched (edited)

Got Fire TV 4K and it works really well. Can't complain.

IMHO Chromecast

4K Firestick.

Had the CCwGTV and it was just as good, I just prefer the Firestick.

Wouldn't bother with a Roku, had one years ago and it was slow, looked crap and couldn't handle directly playing on Plex. And then there's the issue with sideloding if you want IPTV...

It's personal preference really. Some like LG Webos or Samsung Tizen. Others prefer Amazon Fire TV, Android/ Google TV or Roku,

I have both and prefer the chromecast. I think that’s mainly because it’s similar layout to my shield though so feels more “shield like”
