NHS Fleet Solutions

Last month I returned my NHS Fleet Car with around 3000 additional miles on it over my selected allowance.

Other than this, the car was immaculate, not a mark on it.

When they came to collect then spent 2 hours examining the car and then I signed something to agree the state of the car and that £0 cost would be paid due to issues found.

I am yet to receive any sort of invoice or information with regards the additional mileage.

I don't want to chase them in case I can get away without paying for it, though more than happy to pay when they do contact me.

Has anyone had an NHS lease car before, this was my first. At the end of the lease did you have any charges and when did they contact you?

Mine may just be delayed as it is over the Christmas period maybe?

Thanks in advance.

That was my thinking, but assuming it will catch up with me, just wondering when and if I would be notified or just notice less pay one pay day?

It isn't a big issue or a huge amount of money, but would still be nice to know.

Was the 3000 additional miles personal miles or business miles?
If your agreed NHS business miles over the term ended up being more than 3000 then the NHS would just foot the bill with no charge to yourself.
I’ve had lease cars through the local authority that I work for and my mileage was 15k per annum made up of 5k business and 10k personal. My business miles ended up being more than 5k so at the end of the lease it would be calculated by our finance dept but I was never charged as I was over on my business miles.  (edited)

It was probably all business, however I never document or claim my business miles so they wouldn't have a record of anything. Really should start claiming business miles..new years resolution made 😁

My wife got invoiced by the financial dept nearly a year later. They only gave her 14 days notice(via letter) and it was automatically deducted from her payslip. NHS and LA

Wow a year is a bit much! The total excess mileage in my case is only around £400 so not a massive amount, but would expect the bill within weeks not nearly 12 months later!

I had a business lease go back. Oddly they only inspected it and filled in the paperwork for about 20 minutes, there was the odd small scratch and u thought I'd get a charge but within a day I had an email saying no charge. I was about 30 miles over my milage, the email did say excess milage charges will follow if applicable, it also mentioned service history charges will be added then too. Not sure on time frame but I'd suspect a week or 2 - although the above poster said nearly a year which seems like a long time to total it up!

The checked mine on the drive for over two hours and then confirmed no damage and no charge. It got emailed through straight away with a £0 charges due for damage.

In case anyone is reading this in the same position, just received an invoice in the post for the excess mileage due - didn't come out my salary as per contract.

Not an issue and easy process to pay online
