Can anyone work out whether I can just replace the desk top? My wife is in the market for a standing desk, but would like one with a 140x80 desk top, which is the same as mine. Was planning to just buy a stand and a Trotten top from IKEA. This seems ludicrously cheap for the stand.

I bought this last month and got it delivered last week. It's a very sturdy desk and good quality materials. However, I wouldn't advise using the stand and get another top.
It is better to go with something else like this

Is 116cm high enough? I'm 6'2 tall and it seems like I'd be bending.
    Podge's avatar
Possibly. I'm 5'7" and have mine set at 115cm.

I recently got one on amazon for under £100 and it was wobbly not sure if all of the cheap ones are like that.

I have one. Not wobbly (except for the fragile cup holder)

Looking for something a bit bigger, need space for 2x 24 inch monitors, laptop, and maybe a keyboard

The images shows it could possibly fit 2 monitors. I currently have a fixed desk of 90*60 cm and have 2 monitors (28inch and 24 inch) which just about fits side by side, they stick out at the end but stable. So with this table being 20cm longer, it should be good?
Can anyone who has this already confirm if its suitable in the case scenario? (edited)

I bought virtually the same model (amazon.co.uk/gp/…2HD) back in November for £80 and I'm very pleased with it. Pretty easy to put together, really well packaged and they provided a few spare bolts & screws just in case. The desk works well, it's sturdy and rises and falls smoothly. Mine says it goes up to 46" (117cm) like this one - I'm 6'2" and it's high enough for me to work comfortably at while standing.

I used to have an IKEA adjustable desk which was hand-cranked and cost more than this. This one is so much less effort to lift up & lower down, which means I'm much more likely to actually stand up several times a day.

Time will tell how durable it is but, for under £80, if you work from home all the time as I do, I think this is a bargain!

Standing desks are very good, you know what they say - "sitting is the new smoking".

years ago I would have scoffed at this, but considering I am currently seeing a physio because of my body defaulting into a terrible posture while working at a desk....Well, I'm also looking into getting a standing desk.

116cm is not tall enough if you want to use a treadmill or you're 6ft and over.
    BenjaminDover99's avatar
How come? I'm 6'2" and 116cm comes to about 3cm above my belly button, which I'm using as a reference as this is where my current sitting desk comes to, and if anything is slightly too high for where my arms should be for typing.

I know I won't have the same proportions as everyone my height but I think I'm pretty typical for a human male.

The adjustment is so quiet and smooth that they managed to squash the sleeping cat against the ceiling!

What is the width of the desk as it states 110 on item it self but within description states 120 am I being thick?
    rexdare's avatar
I got mine last week it’s 110cm. I wish the top was a bit thicker, it 15mm but it does the job.

That first photo shows two monitors side by side.
    Misleading?
    tor126's avatar
No. I have this. Could easily fit two monitors side by side

I can't decide between this and the devoko, been debating for days. The devoko seems to have a higher weight of 80kg as opposed to 60 on this one. The higher sizes also come with castor wheels and a cable tray.

Why do people want these, genuinely curious? Is it something more than just being able to stand up?

Standing desks or standing desks with electric motors?

I like a standing desk because sitting down 8 hours a day isn't great for your posture or your joint/muscle health. So I work standing for part of the day.

I like a standing desk with an electric motor because I don't to wind it up & down by hand like my old standing desk, so I'm much more likely to just press a button to change its position while I wander off to get a coffee or whatever.

I have no idea if people want them for other reasons though.
