Depends how many you need. I'd personally go for the jumbo dates, will be much bigger and softer. Oxfam stock Zaytoun dates (but only medium) which is my go to brand as they are Fairtrade and ethical too.

Wouldn't touch M&S (or any own brand supermarket) ones with a bargepole...

For those careful about location, make sure you check as some maybe sourced from areas of conflict.

Aldi on its Mejdool boxes apprently hide where the dates come from.

Medjool dates are Israel and "Jordan river" which is Israel.

Rule of thumb, if it's difficult to find the place of origin for the dates, it's likely Israel (as they conceal it with tiny text)

Dates all year round in our household. I opted for the 5kg about a month back. I would say around 70% decent and 30% dry, but you can soak those.

Opted for thedateproject.org/shop/ this time, great gifts for friends during Ramadan.

Great stuff, I will go and grab some myself in that case. Good deal thanks for posting

Oh I just noticed this is not a Tesco deal… I thought this was from Tesco. Apologies for the confusion (edited)

Absolutely amazing. Texture is soft, like the centre of a gooey brownie.

All dates coming from Palestine is going to be distributed by Israeli companies
    MadeDixonsCry's avatar
Not the ones branded Yaffa or Zaytoun.

I had 5 things in my basket, shipping said £4 something - I removed some incense sticks and it went down to £3.50 for the shipping. Not sure how it's calculated I just altered my basket to get the cost lower.

It's a joint collaboration - grown by Palestinians & marketed via Israeli companies.

These are grade 3. Means it's basically the worst of the bunch when they've been picked. Hence the flaky skin. Whereas higher grade would be the opposite... However still tasty to eat.
    Jino's avatar
I would bet these are kept inappropriately and soon will start to spoil.

From the flip side - wow! Very cheap! I have to buy couple of boxes straight away.
  29. RealGeek's avatar
    What is grade 3 ? means 3rd grade/class ?
    MadeDixonsCry's avatar
It explains what it is: dry and flaky skin. Normally they would be moist on the outside.
