I take it I should ring to get a better deal - what is the going rate for those services these days? Everyone seems to be charged different prices. Does £31 seem reasonable for what I currently have?
M500 has been offered as an extra £7.95, though I'd rather have a smaller bill...

I'm paying £24/MTH for 120mb BB and weekend only landline. It was £18 previous to that.

And I had to fight for ages to get them to agree to this. Multiple phone calls, speaking to UK based staff, notice to terminate service etc. Very draining.

The discrepancy between the prices and packages that VM offer to customers is staggering.

VM is very draining, I dread the Annual price rise that they have introduced, as all that game playing of Cancelling etc, I pay £30 for 125mb and Anytime phone calls on landline, but I constantly see that others have paid either excessively more or more annoying a lot less than I do. Surely the amount they have to pay all their call staff for the time involved, would be easier just to give a straight rate, like they did in the 'Old days', and fixed contracts were fixed for the whoe contract.

If u are within 30 days of your contract end u should always go mse first to see what u could get in your area as a new customer because that will be your backup plan.

Next u should call vm up and terminate your contract and tell them that competitor XX is offerring you YY. Be adamant and be stubborn. Dont be undecided. I cant stress that enough. They will call your bluff and go through the motions and 99% of the time at the end of the call they will offer u something that will match or beat the offer u just gave them (either in price or in service). Its only 1 special offer u get on the call (they may try to upsell first). (edited)

I currently have 1Gbps for £20 a month with the option online to add the Mixit TV package for an extra £5 a month.

So £25 for basic TV and 1Gbps broadband. No home phone.

If it's going up to £59.66 and then £74 I'd definitely be cancelling and trying to get a better price. (edited)

Ok - how did you manage to get 1Gpbs for £20/month?

The benchmark is at a minimum new customer prices, do not pay anymore. Give 30 days notice to cancel then balls I'm your park, don't keep phoning them up either.

So I got the call back today - the best they could do was £39, then £35 to remain on the same package. I said no and he said he could drop my BB speed to 150Mbps for £29/m.
Looks like I need to find a new internet provider - or should I wait a bit longer?

    I get 100mb broadband for £17
Had to have a stream box to get this price... It's still in its box somewhere.

Binned the landline as we have mobiles, and their TV is mostly Freeview ! (And we don't watch that)
Add my £7 SIM from a different provider and we're covered for 23 quid a month. (edited)

Before the misery of calling up, have you checked for any renewal offers in your online account? Loads of people are getting really decent prices offered on there these days.

The best price I’ve seen for Volt M350, Mixit TV, and Weekend chatter recently is £19.50 a month plus an O2 SIM. But that’s from an outbound retentions campaign.

For the online offers you’ll probably get a £28-32 proposal. But I’ve known a few people to get lucky.

If you don’t get good pricing do you care about TV? It will be cheaper to haggle a totally new contract with outbound retentions for broadband only, and then throw in a Stream box for free if you still want TV included. Rather than TiVo.

Wow! You've basically got freeview tv and high speed bb for £80

I pay £21 for line rental, 50mbps, talk weekends with vm. Tv is free as I use an aerial and a £30 freeview recorder.

    50 or 500???

So I finally rang them. Got offered £55 to remain on current package (which took 15 minutes for the agent to "double check"). Said no, I wish to cancel. Got through to retentions and it went down to £39 to remain on current package or downgrade to 150Mbps BB for £33. I said no, just cancel and I asked him to confirm my final bill which will be £74, but a refund will bring it down to £19...
I have my Voxi SIM which should be 300GB of 4G data to fall back on. I guess I'll need to activate that!

    (Three are doing 5G for £11/m for 6 months - but of course it's not available in my area - 4G is, but it's £22/m ? !)
    KodaBear's avatar
They can’t discount the 4G one because the 4G broadband contract includes the router that you get to keep for yourself when you leave. The 5G ones are just rented to you and have to be returned when you leave.

Many people these days buy their own routers and put an unlimited SIM in themselves. In the long run it’s better value.

£30 for 500mb here. They offered £39 when I gave my notice. Then £37 from retentions team. I told them goodbye. I ain’t paying a penny extra. They’re robbing us hard working people in the current economic climate. It’s a joke!

Yeah - there was a time when they had an monopoly of the fastest speeds available, but no longer. They don't seem to realise that there is a lot of competition now! Symmetric fibre looks good - just need to find a provider in my area now! No 5G & going from 350Mbps to 4G might be too much of a step down... Ho hum.
