    Only recently got hold of a 2nd hand phat one at a great price - what are these like compared to the OG ones?

    The slim ones have a USB-C input at the front, and they have done away with normal USB-A input that is on the OG ones. You also don't get a proper stand with the slim (that will cost you an extra 30). The slim has a little bit more storage. If you have a 1200 OG model from 2022 onwards, then it will be the same smaller chip that is on the new Slim (more power efficient) but these phat ones are slightly quieter, due to having a bigger copper heatsink. The original ones were over-engineered it seems, so in my opinion, if you have that one then there is no need to get the slim (unless you want it to be slightly smaller in size).

    One big thing I do like about the PlayStation, though: the ease of recording both full length 4K60 clips and integrating that with YouTube uploads, or instant replays (up to 1 hour 1080p 60fps) makes it much easier for making vids. On Xbox, the 4k clips are limited to around 2 minutes on instant replay or something I think it is, unless you put your own external storage in, you can record up to 1 hour. Even then, you have to transfer it to your PC if you want to upload it to YouTube as Xbox don't have the YouTube app to upload straight to. PlayStation just lets you record a full clip and boom, done. Just little quality of life things that probably aren't a big deal for most.

    Just another update on this Currys currently have the same PS5 for £409 and if you have a work discount scheme then you might be able to get between 6-10% discount on that.


    (mine is currently 6.5% which takes it down to £382.42)

    They won't be hackable if thats what you want. Slim edition, so firmware will be very recent within the last 6 months, I would say. Sony won't be shipping PS5s with known hackable firmware.

    Same as me, bought a new GPU and my gaming hours are in single digits since I got it. I sit on the computer all day so I log off once I finish working but I think a console would see more use. Push a button and kick back on the sofa
