Serious question, but if I dont have a 4k/8k TV and very rarely play my PS4 is there any point in upgrading to a PS5.. the only reason I was going to get it was for the release of GTA6, heard that it will be rather special.. or am I just best off keeping the PS4 and not even notice the difference and buy GTA6 on that platform

A lot of native PS4 games run better on the PS5, never mind if there are updates to PS5 versions. The hardware is also a lot quieter than either the fat or Pro PS4. So do it, buy one! (edited)

£400 bundle with an extra controller or AAA game soon I hope 🤞 (edited)

I bit at £430 the other day. Arriving soon I think. (edited)

Managed to get a PS5 825GB disc version 2 weeks ago from John Lewis, it was a COD MW3 bundle for £322.

As I am a My John Lewis member, £5 off promo was also given, got it for £317. Sold MW3 to my cousin for £30- however could have easily sold for £45 and sold the white pad for £40 to my work colleague again which could have easily sold for £50/55!
Got the PS5 left to sell or keep!
Bought Street Fighter 6 the other day £15!!

You can't do much with it if you sold the pad

I'm surprised this is hotter than the EE deal with 2 controllers for extra £30.

Why is a 4 year old console still this price??

Have you heard of a little thing called inflation?

Ive held out so long I might as well wait for the Pro that should land this year.

Same but really tempted to get this haha

Purchased a PS5 Slim on the previous deal and the WiFi speed was atrocious (a PS4 in the exact same spot is >3x faster). Tempted to jump on this, but not sure if that's standard or if I got a faulty console

I'd describe this as... New-ish? Ripped box, crumpled manuals and no inner box packaging l

I bought mine during Black Friday at House of Fraser for £350 and included a £50 gift voucher to spend at HoF.

Not sure why £400+ is considered a good deal. (edited)

This is the slim. You didn't buy a slim.
  12. GGMI's avatar
There seems too many added costs these days with games consoles, subscriptions etc.
    Add_to_Basket's avatar
Subscriptions are by far and away the best deal in the history of gaming. It cost me about 70 quid for three years of gamepass ultimate on xbox, about the same as one AAA title. (edited)
  13. TheFlyingDonut's avatar
Can't believe this thing is still £400+

Feel free to post a deal for less

I don't know why I bother looking lol. I still have an xbox one but never play it. Nor do I have time or want to make time to play. I did play a ps5 when I stayed at a friends house for a few nights, and whilst I enjoyed it, I just think there is more productive things for me to do. Maybe that's just an age thing I more or less stopped gaming entirely.
    IbbyS's avatar
I do the same thing lol

Hey is this 2021, in my time machine, I can buy a 1000 & become a millionaire
    umair166's avatar
If you bought 1000, when back in time and sold them for market rate for then you wouldn't become a millionaire. In fact, even if you sold for triple price(£1200), you still wouldn't make a milliion! Your profit would only be £800K! (edited)

Any games worth buying this for? I already have a gaming pc
    andypearce543's avatar
    FF7 Rebirth
    Demons Souls
    Horizon Forbidden West
    FF16
    Spiderman 2
    GOW Ragnarok
    TLOU Part 1 and 2
    Gran Turismo 7
  18. crack_shot's avatar
I realised this is the first generation of playstation that i havent bought

truth is.... theres nothing on it that can tempt me to buy it.
ps1 had FF7 and gran turismo
ps2 had tekken tag, MGS 2
ps3 had ergonomically the best controller and gran turismo 6
ps4 i bought for witcher 3 (ended up spending most of its life collecting dust)

ps5???? spiderman looks like absolute trash, far cry side quest tier. TLOU 2 was trash.

why buy this when PCs exist and any good future game will go to PC anyway
    andypearce543's avatar
Some don't go to PC though and if they do you can wait 3 years. Most will want to play GTA 6 day one not wait a year or two. And for me personally PC gaming would be far more expensive than console gaming
  19. CyDoNiA's avatar
Not sure there's enough exclusive games and graphics jump to warrant it for me still. I have a PC with a GTX 1080 and tons of PS4 and PC games still to play. Right now I'm more likely to use the money to fund a PC GPU than a PS5.

Obviously I'm not everyone though and compared to it's current price this is a deal for sure but it's also only £40 less than it was at release 3 years ago.
  20. FishAndCats's avatar
I think I waited too long and should wait more for Pro. PS4 still works and there are lots of games to finish. How do people get rid of theirs, last time didn't work with Game p/x as was opened to clean fan. Is selling PS4 on eBay the best bet? (edited)
    mrT786's avatar
I jumped on the PS5 slim. Was either now or never. If the Pro not out till 2025, you gonna think might aswel wait for the PS6. It never ends.
This is still only half way though its life span with Slim just coming out few months ago. Just my opinion. Can't see the PS6 out till 2027.

I might have asked this already but, anyone know the cheapest way just to get online with this? I know on Xbox there were cheap game pass keys knocking about, but it seems that PS Plus dirty-cheap deals are harder to find. I am only really looking at the Essential plus deals.
    mark9915's avatar
    There ain’t none mate 😔

Theyve just had some deals but that was to upgrade only. I was told on here next deal will likely be June so I’ve got a one month pass and will buy a three month pass when that is up to take me to June.

I got a PSN card from Curry’s with15% off but not sure if that offer is still on. Failing that it will be the likes of CD Keys.

Im in the same boat as you and just want access to online gameplay but the upgrade offers would have gotten the Extra level for about 60 quid for 12 months. Given you could upgrade the remainder of your subscription I had the grand total of ONE day left on mine!

Voted hot because it's the best price at the moment for a disc version. Still can't believe Sony announced the PS5 was in the latter half of it's lifecycle. Was putting money aside to get one in the next year but I think if we're already halfway to the PS6 I'll maybe wait! Steam Deck will do me til then.
    GOODSTUFF's avatar
I reckon we will see ps5 pro either later this year or 2025. Followed by rumors and speculations of PS6 in 2026 and launch of PS6 in late 2027

399.99 John Lewis for members right now

    How?
  32. mrdeeznutz's avatar
over 3 years after release and it dropped £50 on sale lol. I remember at launch people were saying “i’m going to wait for a sale in a few years “. can’t believe people thought it was going to drop in price
    mrT786's avatar
If you take inflation into account, it's dropped a lot more than £50 saving you refering to. £450 in Jan 2020 should now cost £540 after inflation.

I just paid £439 for PS5 slim with 2 controllers. If you take out the cost of the 2nd controller (which I would have purchased anyways) the console costs £380 only. Decent saving imo.
