Gaming PC Advice

My son keeps asking for a gaming PC, and we've finally decided to indulge him. It's not something that we know about at all, so with that in mind, could the people who do know something please advise on what we should be looking at, with a budget of between £1200 - £1500. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

He has a TV, but I'm assuming his experience will be better if he gets a monitor.....

If you don't want to configure or customise your system this is as good as any mid-range system. Add ~£250 for a good 27inch monitor

I wouldn't buy that, id pay a little more and get a better motherboard, gpu and processor which will last longer.
Also thats not a good deal you can get almost same spec for 585 on a deal sarden put on weeks ago (edited)

Just to let you know my experience with building myself a capable 1080p gaming pc on a budget. It will play anything that I throw at, maybe not in the highest resolution with all the extras but more than capable. I sourced most of the parts on eBay. It was actually amazed how easy everything just worked, not like the old days when I used to get incompatability issues.

    Parts listed below :

Base System - Dell Optiplex Tower i5 7500 8gb Ram and 1tb Hdd £62.00 (including postage)

    Graphics Card - Gtx 1650 Super £135.00

Graphic Card Power cable - 15 pin sata splitter cable to 6 pin PCI - £2.49 (the connector on this needed to be removed and the individual pins attached due to case restraints)

    Memory - 2x8gb Corsair vengeance ddr4 - £37.00

    PCie Nvme M.2. SSD 500gb - £39.45

    Total - £275.94

(So depending on what you actually plan to use it for, you can significantly reduce the price and still have reasonable capable machine)

Oh as and addition I bought a Oculus Rift for £60 and use it to play half life Alyx.

I forgot to say these Optiplex have a windows license hard coded to them so you get a free win 11 pro upgrade too. (edited)
