Prices from the other week when I posted this up with the £75 off offer. All PC Gaming Systems Discounts, Offers and Sale - June 2020
just the graphics card but my point was that the graphics card performance/benchmarks wouldn't be reduced at all by the CPU, since the CPU isn't going to be a bottleneck in this system. so in theory you should achieve the stats/framerates on that page i shared (or close to it) it comes with a 256GB SSD according to the deal description
tbh you could probably get away with an even cheaper or more basic laptop than this one, this one's a bit overkill
Really tempted to take a punt on this! Just can't decide as to whether anything similar/slightly cheaper is likely to come up in the near future! (confused)
Only really do Football Manager so which would be the best cheapish laptop?
Well spotted, that's a mistake on the page.
Just learnt they do 3600mhz RAM :S :S :S
It's a shame you don't have the option to upgrade the PSU...
Message them my friend waited 3 weeks for his, he wasn't happy with the ram they put in and he paid extra to update the ram, they built it the same day and shipped it out and he had it the next day, after he messaged them and upgraded the ram
how long do they take to deliver?
Blowers definitely get a lot of unwarranted hate. Sure it's not as good as an aftermarket but it does the job
Looking for something to use for VR would this be any good ?
Not really accurate, is it? this GPU should provide with similar FPS to those of a 1660 ti Max-Q and can achieve over 120 fps in medium or higher details in the following games Overwatch World of Tanks Rainbow Siege The Witcher 3 CounterStrike Go BIoshock Infinite Rocket League Fifa 20 Gears Tactics and more. So it is not
Needs more graphical power sadly if they want to call it a gaming laptop. Don't know why they bother with the 120hz screen as you'd only get 120fps with minecraft. Because laptops can't be upgraded much then you wanna get a good engine (CPU/GPU) so to speak straight away. You can add more ram and HDD/SSD later if needs must. I'll still vote hot because the price is good for what you get though. Edit: didn't see but it has no Freesync either which is weird and would be needed with the GPU power of that card.
This is sadly a bit expensive, a bit like those recommending laptops with Intel 9000 or 10000 series for similar prices. This CPU is like a 9300H, not bad, but should never be more than £650.
Finally MSI using all AMD
Do they, I dunno anybody who has had them revoked
Sure, but those cheap keys also get revoked a lot. If you're doing a direct comparison, considering this is a legit version of Windows 10 which will not get revoked, you should also consider the cost of a retail Windows key.
Windows keys are easy to pick up cheap
Currently building: 3700X 570X mATX Corsair Ballistix 3600MHz 16GB C16 1TB WD NVMe + 500GB WD NVMe Corsair 650W 80+ Gold Thermaltake V21 Spent approx £840...budgeting another £300-£400 for 5700XT or 2060 Super.
I'd pay the extra £100 for the 4800H version with double the ram and SSD size.
I think yes to both hot & noisy. Some big technical bod from AMD recently admitted that the 5600M, whilst capable, isn't the most thermally efficient GPU. I'm sure they'll get better & (hopefully) overtake Nvidia. If you can afford to hang on for another year or two (I can) then wait. If you can't, then this is pretty good for the money.
Have a look at the review in the top comments section.
Looks good Any idea how hot and noisy it’ll be for standard use and also gaming?
That hasn't been true for a long time. The new Intel chips run extremely hot. Linus even made a video about it recently
can't stack codes
guys, loading times between ssd and nvme are about the same. The difference is when you move thousands of files but for gaming it doesn't actually make any difference whatsoever. And there's no difference even when you load up windows.
Just check the benchmark reviews I think in reality there isn’t a gaming laptop available that you can actually put on your lap whilst gaming But I’m thinking more of the G5 onwards which hits around 61 degrees
Is this still the case with these newer Ryzen CPUs? I thought they're much better now, they used to have this problem in the past, was thinking that's not applicable to the Ryzen series.
Yeah i understand that, but i guess a prebuilt in a normal case gives you the option to build, change, learn etc going forward :)
Awesome thanks. Prebuilt is my preference for sure. Afew years ago I bought a load of components to build my own, never got round to it and just sold them all with it being so outdated now (lol)
Yeah it's good value if you font fancy building it, no glaring issues. I'd be happy with the purchase :)
Has it come yet Thomas? Its come in and out of stock acouple of times and keep getting tempted (lol) is it good value for the spec?
@Thomas. Have you received yours yet
Old poor designed case which is cheap for many reason This is designed to go after idiots who only see the lights or terms like tempered glass. The metal on these is so thin, having all those fans as well is just pointless they wont do anything with the front being blocked like that. Regarding the RGB it is controlled via reset switch you press it to go through the modes and hold it to turn them off (no fan control) I would pay bit extra and go for Kamikaze Pro or even F15M at around £60 these are still budget case and much better option. This thing the temps will be terrible even if you are running newer systems just no real air flow. Last thing the limited mounting for things like hdd and ssd is very poor as well for a case this size.
Good plan , I'll get some string lights from B&M (y)
Not enough lights for you? I get it, but for such a cheap price it’s ok. You can always buy more.
funny the question marks are really small, making assumptions then putting question marks at the end, please show me the specs where your statement is relevant and i will apologise-i stated what the website said and your post is negative is it not-youve already stated you have no experience of the case yet you posted this (confused)
I asked a question on what you had said. Answer it with your experience of the case please.
Ordered now thanks. It is for the Mrs who already annoying with me by WFH and use the only laptop at home.
Relax brother it's been this price for some time. Give it some time and price may come down in the future. This price is more closer to RRP.
I was too late.... it is now out of stock!
Expensive considering 1060>1650ti.
The 1650ti is new for laptops, here's a benchmark comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeT84dzMlSs
It's freezing in here
Or i just copied and paste from the last time i put this machine up...the description says that at the very top. :) As i said ill try to call pc specialist at some point tomorrow :)
You have a good memory to remember all these spec details then...
I'll jump into tardis to go back a few weeks, I'm not going through my search history for ages finding random threads on the forum, the pc specialist configurator, and wayback machine back ups. I'll call pc specialist tomorrow and get them to confirm / make, amendments :) .
Gonna get pretty chilly 😏
Bought a Lenovo laptop, damaged box. Product itself was in mint brand new condition. Its been over a year now still going solid. (y) (y) (y)
Just found these at Argos on clearance but not for delivery :( hope at least someone can find a nearby store stocking these! https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8687425
Bought xbox one s as "open - new". And it was "open - new" (y)
I bought the SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless from their clearance store - box was damaged but all the plastic wrapping had been untouched on the headphones themselves and looked like it had never been used. Guess I could've been lucky though!
I bought an open box msi laptop with codes from for nearly half price. I was concerned but It was literally open box but brand new. My only experience. At half price or 60 percent go for it but less than that I wouldnt bother.
Bargain But 350 watt power supply Obviously you can change it for a few quid but maybe why they're being returned through crashing due to the power supply
Very weird considering this is the MSI Gaming LAN edition board! A good price for a very capable machine...
This was a bargain,
Yeah people want alot for £530 and a 800 year warranty
yeah it was a CEX one for £530ish with a 1660ti, didnt say it had or didnt have a ssd thought, but i preguess its possible there. was a good price, even though it got knocked by some folks who didnt look at the bigger picture. ah well. keep a look out they come up often in various of formatts.
As someone who has this same machine with an upgrade to 16gb of ram I would say you can probably get more for your money.
I will do in future. Lol. Just waiting on cex to have decent stock and lower price. They put price up a little due to covid-19. And not getting enough stocks due to shops being closed. I think I paid £45 for my 2666mhz ram
Deals come here everyday and they go quick so its hard. Getting to know Ryzen chips myself. This 3550h is equivalent to an i5-9300h. At this kind of money I'd try go for i7 equivalent model which would be 3750h. I think the 4th gen chips are round the corner too and they are hugely improved so if you can wait then do this.. also the 10th gel intel cpu would be selling then too like the 10750h. I bought My HP Omen as I found it cheap on CEX website due to them pricing it with 500GB HDD instead of ssd. So I paid £740 for i7-9750h, 1660ti 8GB ram, 512GB NVME m.2. With the savings I put in anothr 16GB 2666mhz ram and a 2TB Samsung QVO 2.5 SSD to install all my games on. Playing GTA on it last night cpu heat was 100°c on cpu and about 70°c on GPU. When i play gta on my i5-9600k desktop the heat is below 60°c on cpu and GPU. I have tried a few other gaming laptops including an i9 alienware r5 laptop and they all have heat reaching 100°c in cpu. Aparantly its normal :S
I believe with RAM you’re better filling both slots with equal amounts, so might be a good idea to get another matching 16GB (y)
I stuck in 16GB on top to make it 24gb.
Just ask some one to build one for you that is what a bunch of people i know do. The problem with these sort of builds as well is they use low end parts and as others said board like a a320 no one should be touching those boards they are awful even the manufactures will tell you this when talking to them at events.
All fair mate, cheers!
I understand that but again used parts. If you want a used system you might aswell buy a used system and save the money
It's already built and comes with Windows installed. Fair enough you may be happy to do that yourself but there are still those who aren't for one reason or another.
used hardware total cost more than new. Stone cold deal
Yeah that's true. I'd prefer a 1660 Ti in the Dell. I'm going for the 4600H anyway, don't think the 4800H is worth the extra money for me
It seems a bit better (the screen and the CPU) but it has a 5600M. It all depends if AMD doesn't mess up its drivers. Which is quite likely to be honest. CPU though, is a beast. But the 4600H is also a beast
I think this laptop comes with single bank of ram or ram in single channel. You need to get a set of dual channel ones so probably gonna add another 100 on top of this price. But very good laptop.
Found out my girlfriend gets 10% NHS discount, so decided to make the change and went for the Dell. I've just got an email from Amex to say that the deal has been used and should show on my account in 5 days if it meets the criteria... so guess I'll find out in 5 days.
Go for the Dell G5 SE instead
Yeah im actually really tempted now. I have a h100x atm but i think i want this only for the screen hmmm
Not sure why this deal is cold, I'm sure there's a pun to be had here. Heat added anyway as yes, it is an expensive aio but this looks to be the best price it can be had for, so it's a deal for me. Nice one OP!
I went with a Arctic Liquid Freezer II and haven't seen CPU go over 58c
I'm very tempted by this
Really neat design but doubt it'll outperform a Noctua/Be Quiet air-cooler, heat added for the price either way :)
Definitely worth getting 1660 ti laptop (y)
Code doesn't apply
If you get laptop as said above go with 1660 ti minimum. Preferabky go for RTX 2060 or 2070. You'll be amazed with the framerates especially in 120 or 144hz. I prefer playing on my laptop screen now rather than my gtx 1080 gpu rig on a 60hz monitor. I will need to upgrade that monitor to 144hz after using the laptop (nerd)
unfortunately discount code doesn't seem to work on sale items
I'm wondering whether it's worth the extra for the Lenovo Y540 here: https://www.box.co.uk/Lenovo-Legion-Y540-17_2614918.html Definitely a 144hz screen and a 1660Ti which seems to comfortably out-perform the 1650 in gaming!
It will have traditional left and right click although not defined as a hard button just an area to press as well as other useful 'multitouch' functions like pinch to zoom, double tap anywhere for right click, double tap and drag to highlight, two finger scroll, three finger screenshot and many others as designed and allocated by the user. If you are gaming or doing any sort of editing, you are not going to be using this anyway, surely you will have a dedicated external mouse.
It was 649 when I posted, guess the price has changed. :(
You are right, I was mistaken the score displayed at top as the benchmark values: https://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=4027&gid2=3541&compare=radeon-rx-560x-4gb-vs-geforce-gtx-1050
So does the trackpad have any physical buttons?
Thanks for confirming. I will hold out :) they had some other day and I missed out because I hesitated haha
Because if it's a bad deal nobody will want it and the poster will just get loads of cold votes so best to expire and forget about it, better deals around so its a pointless post.
Why expired? Still available at this (poor) price.
It was £849 or £749 with Amex offer last week
This does not appear a good deal to me. The parts are all the previous generation and at the budget end - but at a premium price. It maybe ok if you are restricted for space and are looking at a 17" laptop.
Wasnt this £800 recently?
