Electronic drum kit

Considering getting one for my 9 year old, any things I should be aware of?, any particular features or options I should keep my eyes open for?

Any advice or pointers appreciated.

Roland or alesis ones are a great price vs quality ratio

Also mesh heads is a must as it will feel like a proper drumhead allowing her to develop proper roll technique.

Also I would advise not to overlook a dedicated drumstool, a simple chair will not work, don’t ask why but the height and posture is all wrong! (edited)

Look into the second hand market, it's definitely a buyers world at the moment and you can pick up a decent pre-owned kit for not a lot in comparison to brand new. I'm trying to sell mine and despite comments about being a good price, no nibbles yet.
Echo what others mentioned about mesh heads, though even a mesh snare would be fine at age range you're buying for.
Roland are the industry leaders, Alesis can be a good budget option though I've heard mixed things about the durability/reliability.
