Ive tried a fair few hi tec walking shoes and the dri tec is a load if cobblers on them your feet still get damp with even moderate wet terran like a paved road in the rain! Also the tread is rubbish wears down really fast. Defo not the quality gear it used to be for walking shoes

Just another brand destroyed by Sports Direct driving down prices/quality.

Fir my money the best value price/quality is still Peter Storm in the sales.

I have these shoes, I can confirm they're not waterproof, they're not even listed as waterproof on the Hi-Tec site. Mine were comfortable straight out of the box and in my case the fit was true to size.

I have the boot version of these and walked 20 miles straight off the bat.
Not waterproof but that’s obvious get some waterproof socks keep your feet dry.
Comfortable I always replace the insole and wear arch supports but these are ace the trainers would soak up shocks a treat.

Just think twice about buying these they destroy trails not good for the countryside. What would you walk on if they destroyed trails

Might be OK for walking the dog in the dry but can't imagine these will destroy any trails - your feet maybe. (edited)

    "...Waterproof Shoes £18 each..."

    A pair, surely!

Would these be ok for the Duke of Edinburgh bronze award expedition? They recommend Hi-Tec Men's Eurotrek Lite but they cost £50+ (for realistically only 4 days' of use)

I would personally buy and ex army boot something like aku, altberg, haix to name a few used good condition and still get your money back if you wanted to sell on.

These are ok but not berhaus quality

These are £18, cheapest berghaus are around £90. I imagine people had no expectations of berghaus quality at this price.

I found this gave no real support to my foot, really uncomfortable after any reasonable length walk.

It was too hard in the middle of the sole to be comfy, but not supportive enough around the edges to give the food stability

Ended up throwing them away even though they were no where knackered, never done that before

Waterproof until you get them wet...
