Door cylinder change

Hello, just moved and I'm looking to change the door cylinder with a new one.

I need to decide between:

amazon.co.uk/Yal…8H/

and

amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1

Do you think any other one will be better?

I'm worried of picking as I saw some videos on YouTube and some cylinders are opened in less than 1 minute.

Thank you

You probably need to decide which one you need first.....

The thumb turn does not need a key to open and lets you escape quickly in the case of fire etc. So if you had a house converted into 2 flats with a common hallway/front door youd fit a thumb turn on the front door as it would probably be an escape route for both flats. (edited)

Best thing is, take it out and measure it or take it to your local DIY shop, they will help you on the counter because they come in different lengths as others said earlier.

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but the original might be the wrong size. Just make sure the outer side does not protrude over 4mm (they only come in 5mm steps)

Check your insurance policy if you intend to fit a thumb turn you may need to notify them. Mine requires key operated locks, having thumb turns would put the premium up.

They can be opened through letter boxes.

That's a good observation, thank you

Both anti snap which is great. One is thumb lock the other isn’t. What’s your preference?

Bear in mind these might not be the same dimensions as yours these are both 35x35mm fitting, have you checked the size of yours, when I changed mine I discovered both doors had different sizes, one of them was offset.

    See this guide.

Good point .....plus if they protrude too far out from the handle they are more of a security risk.

This should be less of a problem these days with anti-snap cylinders but with an older cylinder you can hit them with a hammer/metal chisel combination and have them break half way ...where the fixing screw comes in from the side. My brothers an estate agent and Ive done it for him once on a upvc door. (All above board...) Im not a locksmith but it was fairly easy from memory.
