Take a look at the Rega Planar range. I've heard good things about Pro-ject too, and they seem cheaper. (edited)

Make sure you buy one that supports 78 RPM and comes with a decent wind-up handle.
If it supports Thunderbolt 5 then that helps a lot with the aerodynamics of the arm.

You might also need to replace all of your socks and buy new carpets to reduce the chance of static charges.
But the most important thing is to stock up on pipe tobacco to enjoy while you listen to your new vinals (sic).

Any idea where I can get a decent wind-up handle for my vinal record player?

Not as simple as just buying a turntable. If you are fully aware of this, then as mentioned above, Rega are very good. Also had Thorens turntable that was wonderful. Sadly went to turntable heaven after 20 plus years of usage.

    what is your budget?

generally anything that is a "record player" these days that's not old and second hand, is generally poor quality. usually you would need a turntable to play records, to which about £200 minimum for a budget half decent player. then you need an amp and speakers, or powered speakers. so about £300 for amp and speakers if you don't have this already. on ebay or freecycle you may get lucky and get an amp and speakers to get started with

richer sounds probably have packages for starters so i suggest looking there

apart from that, i'd suggest against even starting to collect vinyl, or just collect it and keep it sealed and play cds or stream etc. it can be an expensive business and you can get better sound from other formats and it doesn't need the setup to be calibrated or have things like dust and scratches etc affecting playback
