Printing peeps. Best method to print these things....?

Hi all. I'm seeking some advice on a project i have coming up. I'm doing a printing run of 1000 X A6 leaflet type things, for my small business. They are going to be printed on glossy cardstock 300gsm and double sided. There is small text and images.

My current printer is definitely not up to the task and I'm currently weighing up the best method of doing this. If successful I will be doing more very shortly.

Initially I considered just using Vistaprint but I would prefer to add a new printer to my workshop and do them myself. I needed a new printer anyway.

I don't know whether it would be best to look at Inkjet or laser printer for what I am doing?

I'm also stuck on whether to go for A3 or A4 and also whether I need duplex printing?

Finally, i need a cheap, efficient and professional looking method of cutting them. I have a simple paper cutter which will definitely not work. I'm thinking maybe a manual guillotine. Paper cutting machines are very expensive.

Budget is less than £700 for printer. Im thinking I can probably achieve what I need for a lot less though but I am drawn to the Epson ecotank range.

Thanks in advance!!

For the quantity, cost & effort you are best using your local printers...
Note that not all consumer printers can handle paper heavier than 105gsm... (edited)

Thanks for the reply. I know what you mean about the thickness. There are a few websites where you can narrow down the search for higher thickness.

I'm my experience though many printers that say they can't handle thicker material actually will do.

Vistaprint would cost be around £40 for a run of 1000 and I will probably be doing many more runs, so maybe not too cost effective.

I've not long ago purchased the Epson ET8550.

It's an Eco tank (as indicated by the ET model number) and is an A3+ (so it prints continuous A3 rolls).

Although not cheap (I paid £620, but will also get £100 Epson cashback - so total will be £520 - 'Normal' price looks like it's around £700 ), it really does print some nice quality photos - Managed to also get Amazon to split the cost over 6 months interest free.

Just a few moments ago, I printed an A3 photo card (fold into 4 to make a birthday card) and can say its come out amazing quality, so glad I purchased this, such an improvement over my old HP.

Unfortunately I dont think this offer is still on, but it might be worth keeping an eye out.

Thanks for the reply. This is actually on of the models i have been looking at. I don't think it does duplex printing (double sided) but it does look like a great printer. Quality-wise it must be good as it's for photo printing How is the eco tank? They are meant to be very economical.

Find a local printer and support a local business.

I hear you but I have my own small business which will benefit from the purchase of a printer.

It will also be expensive from a printers as I actually need 4 very slightly different types of leaflets. That would result in 4 seperate orders. It will more than double then price to probably £100 ish for a run of 1000. Then factor in that I am planning on doing multiple runs of 1000 in the coming weeks probably and it makes sense to look into doing it for myself.
