If you were given incorrect information at the point of sale, the contract isn't valid as you don't have what you agreed to."},{"@type":"Comment","@id":"https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/52613167","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"yel0"},"datePublished":"2024-04-20T14:27:36.000Z","text":"Happened to me took a contract out in the beginning of feb and was told I wouldn’t be affected as it was a new account. the archive page below indicates the Virgin Media:
Terms and Conditions - TV, Fibre, Phone (from 1 May 2023)
and the immediately preceding
Terms and Conditions - TV, Fibre, Phone (from 9 November 2022)
where the latter will apply to your April 2023 contract.

In summary from quick scan read:
your pre-May 2023 contract appears to have no provision for automatic annual price rise but does has provision for anytime price rise(s) subject to you being given 30 days to terminate at no penalty if you do not accept the price rise(s).
Suggest two questions to consider presenting to VM:
1) pls confirm the (date of) t&c applicable to my contract
2) pls identify the t&c paragraph permitting VM to apply the recent price rise
Assuming you manage to contact a VM CS rep that is capable of understanding & accurately answering those questions:
the response to question 2 is likely the critical factor in deciding whether or not you will need to demand any record of an April 2023 promise to not introduce price rises prior to Oct 2024.
Depending on VM response you may be able to choose to terminate the contract early at no penalty,
or if you are confident that you can show the price rise has been incorrectly applied but you wish to continue the services at the original price:
you could consider doing nothing until Oct 2024 then present a claim for the accumulated cost of 6 months of increase, which will be about £12 - £13.
