Virginmedia broadband renewal

My 18m broadband contract is due to end on 4th August. I'm currently paying £36.99 after the recent price increase. I have Volt M350 with WiFi Max. I've been with VM for over 15 years now. Living in Edinburgh.

I have started receiving emails from VM with a recontract offer for an 18m contract for £43 for the same service with a note about the price increase in April 2025.

What will be the best strategy to get the lowest price for the same service? I do not need TV or landline. I'm not really looking to change providers as all VM wires are hidden in walls and are not that easily accessible or accessible at all. Unless a new provider will be able to use the same cable that goes into the VM hub.

Much appreciated for any help with this.

Been covered many many times (search for the old discussions) the answer every time is to speak to VM over chat and cancel, within a few days retentions will call you and offer you a good price. Web chat can't offer you best prices, you NEED to cancel.
Be realistic, you won't get 1gb BB for a fiver a month but they should be able to beat your renewal. Have a price in mind as retentions may ask you what price you want.

The reason you use chat\whatsapp option is you have a record of what they offer, with a phone call you don't. It's also more convenient for you chatting via your phone on WhatsApp.

If retentions don't call or don't offer a decent price you can always cancel the cancellation. Cancellation takes 30 days so plenty of time, then try web chat for a deal again. Web chat will sometimes offer you a good deal if your awaiting cancellation and they have a chance to retain you and sign you to another contract term.

First thing though is to access your virginmedia account online and make sure your contact preferences are set to allow contact, otherwise retentions can't ring you.

I havent got good deals in recent years, i think im afraid to cancel i will lose my landline number. Is there any way to make sure i dont? I guess cancelling early i suppose and cancelling the cancellation then getting another provider to swtich to before the deadline.

Many thanks, lots of useful information and tips.

Re contact, I can only see marketing preferences? Is this what you were referring to? (edited)
