Painting a garage floor

We moved into a fairly new house which has a garage. It is currently used for the freezer and the garage is piled high with other stuff.

The garage floor is concrete and every time we have been in there, we leave a trail of concrete dust footprints everywhere.

I’m thinking I need to paint the concrete floor. Does anyone have any recommendations for products and any tips for technique?

There might be a car in there one day if I ever have one worth pinching. Currently it’s only used for storage.

Just google floor paint and you paint it just like any other paint, cut in around the edge with a brush and roll the centre.
Clean up the dust first by brushing it all out then i usually hoover it too ( especially around edges and corners where it builds up )
Make sure you do a good few coats and dont drive cars on it for a week (edited)

As long as you are not going to be turning the steering wheel upon entry into the garage, then why not try carpet?

Good idea. Carpet not as easy as paint to keep clean though.

Going to have to clean floor to remove oil and dirt best you can with washing powder and stiff brush

Let it dry for 24 h

Everbuild 403 Premium Concrete Hardener and Dustproofer – Clear Coat.

    Roll on

I'd use a concrete stabiliser/hardener first to sort the dust and and then Paint. I used grey paint on my concrete floor and even with foot traffic it's started to come away (I cleaned the floor first), I wished I used an epoxy paint, preferably 2 pack as it's so much harder wearing.

The lazy way - have separate footwear when in the garage. A footwipe at entrance door to house. Wash footwipe every so often. That's what we do

Once the paint chips, the rest lifts quickly.
How big a space do you need to cover? Costco has a provide mat for garage / workshop floors
    Cheaper in store

One of those would almost cover it and much easier than painting.
The paint will be about £50 and several reviews mention tyres lifting the paint off.

If the car is a distant dream, what about those interlocking rubber/plastic or foam mats
and if you did eventually get a car, you could probably sell them on

Why don't you just give the floor a thorough brush. That will make it less dusty. We don't have issues with the concrete floor in our garage
