Which tv os is best?

Hoping people can help.

ive just bought this LG television. Had high hopes given mid range price. However it’s useless. WebOs is so slow and almost unusable and even getting the settings screen up takes 10secs plus. Live tv took a while to load too. Reading up it sounds like this is a known problem with LG smart TVs. Another problem was that the HDMI CEC didn’t power on the device connected so i had to keep the other remote handy. All round pretty disappointed.

i wondering which tv OS people find to be the fastest please - comment below!

I know I can get a firestick/Apple TV etc etc but  I’d like to use the tv OS for as long as I can and would like it to be fast out of the box.

    Avoid! Avoid! Avoid

The inbuilt Phillips O/S. its so so slow, bad and down right poor. Actually preferred my old Web O/S over that and that was really poor.

That's not an OS problem specifically. It's as much down to the processor as well.

We had a budget LG, and it was faster than the Samsung we replaced it with - but both were nearer the budget end of the range.

As for the hmdi cec - our budget LG worked with Simplink without issue - so it may be a case of making sure the settings are on on both devices.

In my experience none of the tv os’s are great.  For the sake of a £20/£30 firestick it’s not worth the hassle of putting up with them.  Amazon summer sale shouldn’t be too far away now for a discounted stick.

Roku's platform is probably the best to run on underpowered TV's, and also one of the longest supported with updates from what I have seen too.

Even then though, with a Roku TV I would still probably get a box/stick and use that instead. Even if you go for high end TVs the built in smart features tend to have poor performance and support no matter what the OS is.

More specifically Google TV - I have my A80K in Apps only mode, no clutter super fast.

Smart TVs usually have very slow processors so that they're able to sell it for such a low price,

The LG Web OS on our now almost 5 year old E8 isn’t that bad, I’d have thought that with newer TVs it would be even snappier?
