SPECIAL DEAL - Usually 79.97, today just 9.97 - Save £70!

LUCKY DIP LOST LABEL COLLECTION!

This deal offers an amazing end of season price and is perfect if you're not fussed on specific varieties!

We have sold around 100,000 fruit trees already this year, and before we move on to our potted stocks, we like to clear up the final few of the bare root season, which must be sold and planted now. Occasionally, given the volume of trees we are selling there's always a handful that lose the labels - so if you're happy to take pot luck, now's the chance to get a bargain in the face of rising shop prices and get started on the growing your own journey.

If you like fruit, or simply want to eat more as part of a healthy lifestyle, you need these.

A massive garden is not needed as these will thrive in patio planters and can be easily kept as compact towers with pruning.

Collection of Dwarf Patio Pillar Fruit Trees containing one plant of each in a selection of 4 different varieties, this is will a lucky dip selection - below is an example of varieties that could be included, we also have many more, so it will be completely pot luck! We will however ensure no duplication of Cherry, Nectarine, Peach etc, although you may receive a couple of different apples and pears in the mix.

Cherry Stella / Cherry Burlat / Cherry Sunburst
Luscious Black Cherrys are excellent picked straight from the tree, easy to grow and productive. The large dark red/black cherries are very juicy and sweet, with a typical cherry flavour. If your only experience of cherries is from a market stall or supermarket then we think you will be very pleasantly surprised with the flavour of fresh cherries straight from your own tree.

Fantasy Nectarine
One of the best Nectarines for the UK, 'Fantasy' is easy to grow and fully hardy. The mouth-watering crops of red fruits have juicy yellow flesh and can be harvested in summer. Early harvests have a fresh tangy flavour, while later pickings have a rich sweet taste.

Apple Jonaprince / Fuji / Braeburn / Red Delicious / Cox / Golden Delicious / Elstar
We supply two or three apple tree in this lucky dip selection, as although some apples can be self fertile, they always benefit from having a partner around! These well loved apples need no introduction, being widely available in the shops and as a healthy treat in kid's lunch boxes! Now they can grow their own. These varieties are renowned for heavy cropping with loads of juicy, crisp, mouth watering bright red fruit. Enjoy straight from the tree or store for use through to winter. Although dessert varieties, they are also great for baking pies and making apple sauce. You can even be adventurous and use the kilos of fruit you will be able to harvest for juicing and making cider too. If you find you have too many apples, remember they also freeze really well.

Williams Pear
Juicy and Sublime this is one of the nation's favourite pears. Covered with pure white flowers in mid-spring, followed by delicious, juicy, yellowish green fruits. The tree is broadly columnar in shape and is ideal for an open, sunny site. Use your pears in the fruit bowl, for tasty desserts or even have a go at making your own sparkling Perry! All in all, it is ideal for any cooking or baking use, as well as for fresh eating.

Stanley Plum
Originating from the USA where it is a popular commercial variety, this really is one of the tastiest and reliable varieties of plum that there is. The deep violet-blue skinned fruits cover orange-yellow flesh that is satisfyingly firm, very sweet and juicy. A very hardy and easy to grow tree.

These Pillar Trees will produce delicious full sized fruit in the first year after planting and grow no larger than 1.8m provided they are given an annual trim.

Keep in tubs on the patio and enjoy the delightful spring blossom that is followed by the vivid coloured fruit.

Why not plant a few trailing plants around the base to create an interesting effect.

Self-fertile varieties, vigorous and ready to grow quickly.

Supplied bare rooted at around 60-80cms tall, simply soak the roots for 24hrs after arrival then pot up or plant out in the normal way.

Wrong time of year to be planting bare root trees.

You might have to wait a year or two before it fruits. So personally season is not a concern. Its a good time to plant it so the roots settle before winter

Ordered 3/6 delivered today. Got 6 trees 3 apples , 1 each of these Pear, Peach and Apricot. All a bit dry and tired looking. All are green under the bark so a chance they are alive. Got them soaking, will pot up this evening. The pear is self sterile BTW so hope there's another pear tree in the neighbourhood .
Apple Golden Delicious, Empire and Lobo, Pear Clapps Favourite , Peach Inka and Apricot Early Orange. None of these varieties mentioned in their ad.
Looks like I got their 'Childhood Memories' collection - gardeningexpress.co.uk/six…ees (edited)

Nice. I like Empire — related to my all time favourite Spartan.

I have to say compared to other online gardening companies who I have come to only expect to send me half dying plants poorly packaged and guranteed to be kicked to be kicked around in an imprompue game of foottie by the delivery driver, I only have good experiences from Gardening Express. They are usually deliverd on time in good condition. I had a six tree selection from them which I have in pots. This is year 2 and it looks like I will have apples, plums and maybe a (singlee) nectarine to pick this year already (if the damn squirrels behave.) This deal is a bit of a pot luck bargain but if you like the excitement I am sure the quality will be fine. I'll only buy plants from GE and Marshalls now. The others are frankly a waste of money.

Never fond of pot luck selections, I normally read it as "we will send you any old toot we can't shift"

Note they state these varieties or many others.

Be interesting to see what people receive.

Don't buy from this website. They said they'll dispatch in 2 weeks which is crazy in itself but I still waited. After 2 weeks they still hadn't sent my stuff so after contacting them I had to eventually do a credit card dispute. Check out their trustpilot page

Got mine today, same 6 as above. I’m a complete novice but I’d say 2 of the 6 are clearly alive, hoping the others are too. soaking now for 24 hours and plan to pot them tomorrow. Any tips appreciated!

That's all I did , Put a few crocks ( broken plant pot , pebbles, stones, etc. ) in the bottom of the pot. That aids drainage and adds a bit of weight to the pot so it's not so easy to blow over. Also make sure the graft , Where the root stock joins the actual tree, is above the soil line by at least a couple of centimetres. The graft looks like a 'lump' a few centimetres above the roots, If not the grafted variety will grow it's own roots and you will loose the advantage of the dwarfing root stock. Watch out also for any shoots that come from below the level of the graft or the soil. these will be whatever type of apple the root stock is from and should be removed. (edited)

I ordered a few times before and went fine for me but those experiences in that thread are worrying.

Had different set of fruit trees, bare rooted, last year. They say 60-80cm tall but that includes the length of the roots!! When I complained they said its industry standard to include the roots in the 'height' (its in the t&cs). What a con! Only two of the five have grown. Only one has some small apples on it this year. As another has pointed out, this is the wrong time to be planted bare root trees. This will most likely be left over stock they couldnt shift earlier in the year and is probably poor quality.

My son ordered these for me as a Father’s Day present and so far so good. Although described as lost labels they all had labels on and I received six trees despite the order being for only four. They arrived super quick within three days of ordering so they were soaked and planted straight away about a week before the expected arrival date. They all had some signs of sprouting when they arrived and since planting more leaf sprouts have arrived on four out of the six, so I am hopeful they have all taken. There was a good selection of different trees as well so whilst it is early days yet, it’s fingers crossed for next year and I’m looking forward to reaping my 5 a day, providing they survive the winter of course. A single columnar tree down the garden centre from Starline is usually around £65. Ordered two batches of these, £3 per tree including delivery. Even if one or two of them are duds, it's still an excellent price!

Got 6 delivered as well same variety as above. They look alive with green leaves. Soaked them in and will pot them tomorrow. Really wanted a cherry plant but oh well.. (edited)

Got my trees today. Got 3 different apples ,plum, pear, and nectarines no cherry though. The box also contained some cuttings which I planted to see if they grow. But 6 trees when it’s supposed to be 4 is awesome gonna give them some kind of liquid feed next week. They look in good shape too. They look good but tired . (edited)

I awaiting my trees to be delivered. Anyone plant these directly into the soil bed?
    SajidAli-ad629.06113's avatar
I planted mine directly into clay pots. One tree is showing growth of new green leaf. The others have yet to show any growth. I did scrape the bark and the none leaves trees are still green underneath but some of the tips of them are bone dead. Just snap off at the top.

them and tree of them are either diseased, totally dead or dying.

Morrisons had something simalar to these 2 years ago £20 each! I bought a pear pillar for £1 which was pretty much lifeless. With a bit of care it has leaved very well but still no fruit
  17. NhelJMerck's avatar
Ordered last year, all dead! But the root stock in one is alive but the graft is dead.

Bought six of these dwarf fruit trees from this company end of last year and they are all growing really well in their pots, probably too well as they are not dwarfs any more

Does anyone know how tall (and wide) these would grow if I planted them in a long raised bed instead of just a pot? There's not much else that would get in the way of the roots so they'd be pretty unrestricted.
  22. pikey12's avatar
Look nice on the picture. Reality could be different or no delivery at all. Had almost some issue with every order from Gardening Express.

I ordered last time on 3rd June 23 thread. They claim despatch within 7 to 10 working days?
I have not received delivery yet, nor any email they have been dispatched?
My first experience with the company anyone else received delivery yet and how were the trees?
  24. nzadok's avatar
Also ordered June 3rd , not been dispatched yet , I'll likely refuse delivery when it comes and never use them again (edited)

How big does the planter need to be please?
  27. s3mon78's avatar
Don't buy anything from this company. The plants I received where dead or diseased and plant's were missing. I contacted them and they don't respond
  28. Mammoth's avatar
Do NOT buy anything from this scummy company! You’ve been warned.
  29. C.C.'s avatar
As above, avoid this company at all costs, my order of 6 trees arrived last year, 4 were dead, the other two were in a bad way. Contacting the company is a nightmare, the response was terrible.

I'm hijacking this thread to ask about an apple tree I bought from Lidl around 8 years ago? This year is the best ever, with around 50 apples, however I have planted it incorrectly. It is growing at quite an angle. It is around 10 feet high. Is it possible to remove it and re plant it?
    Mr_Nads's avatar
Yes, but do it in winter when the tree is dormant
  31. ronniefisher's avatar
Ordered 2 sets of four Got 10 trees in total 4 plum 4 apple 2 pear. Took 3 days delivery and all have green shoots and look in really good condition. Soaking as i type will go get pots and soil for planting tomorrow. Thanks Op

Got four last year, one is surviving and has a few leaves but is basically a bare stick other than the leaves, seems pricey for this
  33. zararh's avatar
can you plant them in the garden?
    SajidAli-ad629.06113's avatar
    Yes you can
  34. sofeac's avatar
I am still waiting for mine but I thought I could ask how to deal with them for when they arrive. I've learnt that I should soak them for a day. Do I need something like rooting agent? And any recommendations for pots?
Fingers crossed that they get here alive since they will have a hard enough life here with someone that doesn't know what they are doing.
    Thank you!
    yorkie12's avatar
No need to buy rooting powder. Use minimum 7L (25cm dia. pot about 20cm deep), could use cheap plastic ones for now and then invest in something posher if they grow OK. Should use John Innes number 3 compost ideally but could use a mixture of this and general purpose compost if that works out cheaper ( try places like B&Q). Could even plant in the garden first and see how they do , then plant in pots next March. See my comments on Deaa's post above. (edited)

I received 5, 2x apples, a pear and 2x plums. They arrived looking mostly like twigs and not mega alive but we will see
  36. burblepop's avatar
    Mine came today too. Red
Delicious apple, Jonaprince apple, Williams pear and Stanley plum. All are budding and look healthy. Expect they’ll do well.

Also ordered acers. They look fantastic much fuller and taller than I expected.
    Couldn’t be happier. (edited)
