In terms of just maintenance for the car. Are these tyres overkill? If you're after decent tyres that'll last in all seasons - no racing. Are these still worth it?

In addition, how much should one be spending on tyres? Is ~£350 top range tyres, £200 average etc.

    Just after some background knowledge!

I bought new tyres last month and found that the price between the midrange and premium was almost the same. After looking at reviews went for the premiums which were actually these but this deal is better than what I managed to find. Sizes were one 225/40 R18 and two 255/35 R18. Your tyres are the only point of contact with the road so should try get the best product within your budget.

These are advertised as summer tyres. But, british weather and all, I'm sure they'll perform fine in the wet and cold?

Not racing on the track before anyone asks.

I have these and the PS4s before. Both are exceptionally well in handling British weather

I personally don't like these tyres, have had them on for several months now and they feel like they are lacking compared to the F1 Asymmetric 5 I had on previously, I am not saying they are bad but I preferred the Goodyear as they felt more planted in the corners but maybe that's just me (edited)

I'd say it's more of a "maybe it's just my car" thing. Asymmetric 5 fantastic tyre too but, from my experience at least, different cars suit different tyres. They all have their own nuances. My current main car, Michelin's are perfect - looked into it and found out car/suspension was designed with Michelins at manufacturer development stage. (Actually found PZeroes perfect, except they wore out just by looking at them!) (edited)

Would the Michelin discount work with black circles? They have the PS4 x 4 fitted for 428. So 368 fitted (if discount applies).

No cashback with Black Circles unfortunately, otherwise that would've been a cracking deal! Here are the current promotions - car-offers.michelin.co.uk/off…/GB

Tried to buy a set of x4 but realised they were 225 not 235. After digging through their garbage website for 10 mins I decided it wasn’t worth the hassle. Which is a shame because it’s a great price, but wow that sites terrible!!

Everytime I see a tyre deal with smaller tyres, search same tyres my size and they 200% more expensive . Why are the 19 inch £191 each

I always struggle with this, it's because it's not a common/popular size rim.

Having put a set of PS4s on the front of my GTI TCR, they were incredibly brilliant tyres. My GTI Clubsport 45 has Hankook from factory which are frankly dire. Once I have worn those down PS5s will be on!

I went from PS4 to primacy on my GT86 to get through an MOT. Not fun when you're not expecting them to lose traction so easily.

Heat added - Never heard of them, but they have some really good prices, especially for Bridgestone Potenza S005's which are normally £160/170 for my car!

CamSkill have been around since 1990. Every time I've done a tyre search online I've seen them mentioned. Like Black Circles you always seen them when searching for tyres.

How do these rate aginst Bridgestone Potenza S's, they struggled really badly this winter. Normal spec is 215/40/18 but there are like rocking horse teeth and expensive so changed upto 225 and just not sure what car was doing this year, never seemed to be bad last year. Still got just under 6mm all round but thinking of changing them

Had some Pilot Sport 4 S's on a previous car and they were good, but I find my current Bridgestones to be better, that being said I've gone from FWD to AWD.

The Pilot Sports were outstanding in the wet.

Not that much of a deal tbh by the time you pay for fitting. I recently had 4 x Goodyear Assymetric 6 fitted in the same size for approx £380 (through ProTyre). (edited)
    Ghost93's avatar
    Ghost93 Author
After cashback this deal works out at less than £380 fitted (at most local garages @ £10 per corner). So a good deal if you're after the PS5, which is generally more expensive at most places vs. the Asymmetric 6.

I’m not sure if you can claim the full amount, but they offer £24 cash back on two tyres assuming they’re 18” or bigger. I’ve just ordered 2 x 245/40/18 and it came out at £234.90.

Rang up a decent local tyre fitter. Seems the going rate is £20 per tyre + balancing. Includes recycle old tyres.

The guy mentioned he'd do all 4 for £60. Seems fair?
    Ghost93's avatar
    Ghost93 Author
Yeah I’d go for it! £15 a tyre minimum around my area.
