    Manufacturing something just to manufacture something is pointless! Most phones have volume or power buttons where the arms of this pointless mount are. Is it that difficult to consider moving arms to make it usable? I've got a Pixel 7 Pro and the arms press the volume button. (edited)

    The foot of the holder adjusts.... making the buttons on the phone easily accessible

    If you have a Pixel 7 Pro, skip it. The arms press on the volume buttons. Otherwise it's a decent holder.

    Following the recent change in the law regarding mobile phones, as you now risk being charged with driving without due care and attention or careless driving even if your phone is in a fixed mount, aren't these devices largely useless?

    No, definitely not useless. Dunno about your phone... But on my phone I Don't have to touch it to answer or make calls ... I just ask Siri, Google whatever voice assistant is a configured, and it does what I need it to do. So the phone sits on the cradle, plugged in and charging and happy days thereafter taking and making calls.
