I've just changed to BT and it's considerably better, especially with band 20 & VoLTE, perfect coverage everywhere. Family member switched from virgin to plusnet, again both use EE and no more failed calls or texts. I'll be moving the rest of the family off virgin in the next few weeks.
You can as i am using it ...
You can if you are with Virgin just call them up and they will change the plan for you
U can tether it i am using virgin mobile and tethering works normal they don’t advertise it but u can do it
Where do I find that deal? Cheers
You do get upto 14 days to try it out: -
"Now for the legal bits
Your right to cancel
You can withdraw from this agreement, without giving any reason by notifying us
within a 14 day period which starts the day after you have signed your agreement or,
if later, the day you receive your device.
If you cancel within 14 days, your service will be cancelled and treated as if it had
never existed. You'll also be refunded any charges paid up until that time. This is
consistent with your rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation
and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Any cancellation after this time will be
subject to the termination procedures set out in your Terms and Conditions. "
Apparently they changed the policy, I have just been in touch with Vrgin via chat and tethering is allowed.
Jesus, do you have your phone permanently attached to your ear? How do you use that many minutes, with 17 days left too!!?
They allow tethering as it just shows up as using the internet ( no charge) as I use it for my personal hotspot on my car map live services (edited)
Rationally it would be counter-productive marketing for a provider to have a monthly plan with generous data allowance but then restrict how the generous allowance was used. Users of the recent batch of large / unlimited data allowance VM deals have cited exemption from the previously restrictive t&c resulting in tethering being functional.
Surprising to hear as they use EE as their provider, who are meant to have the best 4G coverage in the UK. Although to be fair I have found all the main providers (Vodafone/O2/Three/EE) poor to different extents. Be curious to know if your signal with EE is any different or equally bad as in theory it should be the latter.
I did call them last time this deal was on. They confirmed no tethering. No heat here. 💦 🔥
I’m on Virgin and pay £4 per month for 5gb of 4g data, 1500 minutes and unlimited texts and have had no problems.
Offer was advertised on here last year.
Reception must be dependant in where you are but all good around where I live.
Good deal.
No longer using EE apparently.
EE is bad in my area (despite their coverage maps saying it should be very good). Only Vodafone has good signal. At work its the opposite. You'd think these days the main operators would have equal services everywhere. How long have we had mobiles now?
Still a good deal if you have EE coverage. (edited)
Good luck
He said no tethering aloud, so it's allowed if you are quiet.
p.s. you have been here since 2007 and not posted a single deal - any chance you could rectify that before complaining about other's deals, cheers.
I suspect with that monthly budget they are probably thinking they may survive if you take your business elsewhere. (edited)
Yea of 62p but i phoned virgin and got a £40 credit as i threatened to leave em
Yea its good to talk
Exactly, they're so bad it's unbelievable. The only reason they keep offering these deals is to replace the loads of existing customers leaving after experiencing really poor service.
I changed from EE to Virgin recently and noticed no difference in speed. Voted hot . EE UK call centre sucks . Half the time its closed, or wait on hold for 2-3 hours, when you need them urgently. Virgin call centre through abroad, is always available. And EE prices are so discriminatory and arbitrary since BT bought them . Some people with connections, can get 20gb data on max speed plan for 5 quid only, while others like me wont get the same so I am better off with Virgin. (edited)
so just a word of warning to those who have loyalty discounts, that although this deal may be good in the short term, virgin, shafted me a few times previously where they kept on putting the prices up. although a few of the price rises were manageable, after the 4th or 5th one, you're paying top whack again.
