The Aqua Paradise Resort sits next to Bulgaria’s biggest waterpark, which you get free access to as part of your stay here. Nessebar’s best bits are all within a 20-minute drive of this hotel, including a couple of sandy beaches and the town’s church-filled old quarter. Travel for 15 minutes up the coast, meanwhile, and you can be standing on Sunny Beach’s Blue Flag swathe.
Take a stroll next door and you can make a splash at Aqua Paradise. This giant waterpark’s home to over 35 slides. Plus, there's a surf machine, a kids' zone, a lazy river and a variety of restaurants.

Pools
A duo of pools is on the cards – one’s a relaxation specialist, and the other brings in-water games and activities to the party. There are two splashing spots for kids, as well, and pool bars to take care of drinks and snacks.
The hotel's next door to a huge waterpark – it's fitted with a huge collection of slides, a wave pool and a splash zone for little ones.

Food & Drink
The main restaurant’s got indoor and outdoor seating areas, so you can chow down on breakfast al fresco. There's also an Italian joint* and a fusion restaurant* – you’ll need to make a reservation to eat at them, and you get one complimentary visit.

Entertainment
Daytime and evening shows are put on six times a week.

Sports & Activities Mini-football, tennis* and basketball courts are in the sports line-up, and there's also a games room* and a hotel-run kids’ club.

Health & Beauty
The spa's* made up of a beauty salon*, a sauna, an Olympic-sized indoor pool* and a fitness centre. Massages* and beauty treatments* are on the cards, too.

Facility Summary
A double helping of pools takes centre stage here, and you get free access to the waterpark next door. Three restaurants cover food – one serves an Italian menu. The spa’s got a beauty salon and an indoor pool, and a large amphitheatre deals with evening entertainment.

Rooms
Rooms at the Aqua Paradise Resort come with a balcony or terrace, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, air-conditioning, a TV, mini-fridge, a safe and a hairdryer. There's the choice of a double room or a 2-bedroom family room - some rooms are located in the annexe building.

Voted hot! Bear in mind the weather may not be great for the beach at that time and certainly will not be good for going in the sea. Nessebar is nice.

Those struggling with the prices during school holidays should start considering this destination. We nearly booked for May school holiday and it was £1,200 for 4, all inclusive 4 and 5, star including the flights. You need to build your package rather than buying from tour operators.

As an example, Wizzair flights to Varna. For May school holiday, the price was around £500 for 4 of us including a large suitcase. Varna is about 15 miles from Golden Sands or Albena. There is public transport or taxi.
Do your research and book with the hotel directly. Alternatively use sites as booking.com. Or book via agencies from Bulgaria or Romania, you'll get better prices. See online what the agencies are offering, you may be able to book online or you need to contact them. .
We nearly booked with a travel agent based in Romania. Bulgaria is a popular travel destination for Romanians, as it is not far away, it is the same sea and the prices and quality are much better than in the sea resorts Romania. Hence, the prices are not that high. To give you an idea, the price range we've got from the travel agent in Romania for hotels was £400-700 all inclusive in 4 star hotels and £800 in 5 star at Melia I think. This was for May. In August, when is the busiest and prices are high, the price for the same hotels was £700-1,300. Add the flights on top. Buying from agencies from that part of the world, often means free spaces for the kids if they are under 11 I think.
However, for a family of 4, you can end up paying for a week flights and all inclusive, £1,000 during May school holiday and £1,500-2,000 during the summer holiday. Which is a very good price. (edited)

Anyone else find thought of going to Bulgaria hugely unappealing? I don’t know why to be honest I just imagine it to be dodgy for some reason.

I come from Eastern Europe. My parents in law here told me some stories about that part of the world I could not believe. It is about perception. When we go to my parents, my kids go out on their own and we don't see them until the evening. They can't do this here. My wife walks on her own at 2-3 AM without even thinking that something will happen to her. Unlike in the UK, The Police presence is visible. There are lots of things not working right in that part of the word, but safety is not one of them. Yes, they can trick you when you pay for a taxi. Or in the restaurants they may resel the food cooked the day before, they will try to make money on you, as they believe all westerners are loaded. But that's pretty much it. Believe it or not, they are nowhere as poor there as you think they are. Apart from the people in villages, the average Eastern European has more than an average British. (edited)
